BILLY HARDY IS THE TRUE RECORD HOLDER NOT PHIL DWYER

Fri Feb 07, 2014 2:46 pm

BILLY HARDY [city player from 1911-1932] a member of our 1927 FA CUP winning team played 585 first team games for cardiff and that doesnt include wartime games and of course friendlies ..... which would take Hardys total way over the 600 mark .... when you think PHIL DWYER made 526 games in total which includes european competition and the league cup which added 37 games to his total then in my eyes and in the record books ... BILLY HARDY IS THE TRUE APPEARANCES RECORD HOLDER!

My guess is that it's because many of his appearances ( the first 9 years of his stay with us) were outside the Football League. Dwyer is, I imagine, the holder of the Football League appearance record. Hardy cost us all of £25 to sign.Seems a bit of a bargain.

That £25 would be worth about £2000 today taking account of inflation using the RPI. It could be worth up to £17000 using other measures of worth which I do not pretend to understand. Either way it looks pretty reasonable compared with the Cornelius deal!

£25? You can buy FIFA 14 for that. Why would you waste it on one real player when you can get loads in digital format?
