A forum for all things Cardiff City

In Saturdays most crucial South Wales Derby which of the two teams need the result the most ?
Cardiff City are trailing Swansea by 3 points and are currently in the relegation zone, so there is an obvious argument that we need the win more than Swansea.
Swansea City are in a slump and apart from a recent win over bottom of the league Fulham they are sliding down the table and a defeat on Saturday would surely put them among the other bookies favourites for relegation.
Would a draw be beneficial to both sides or would it serve one the rivals better than the other and if so which one ?

I won;t accept anything but a win from Saturday
Even if you take away the fact it's Swansea, our away form is shocking and we need a win to try and get the confidence back.
Edit: But that clearly didn't answer your question, sorry

Edit 2: I think both teams need a win equally. Swansea need to win to show that Monk is capable of managing and to turn around their shocking form in the best way possible.
We need a win because the CCS atmosphere is getting more and more toxic every week and if we lose against Swansea and Whittingham starts against Villa we could see awful scenes.

We do! We're in the bottom three, and we need to get out of there ASAP. Otherwise, we get relegated. Simple as that!

Both teams need this win just as much as each other, fingers crossed it's us

The glory of the first double in a season should be motivation enough. We can taste their fear, it is that tangible. We must exploit this opportunity!

Both need it for their fans otherwise they should not wear their respective jersies. We need it to start getting a little bit of momentum but a point would be good also. As much as it would be nice I'm not buying this double shit as a factor. If we won and ended up relegated i don't see it as a consolation to the players or the fans.

Every game for us is crucial and a must win! Dont give a shit about any other club
Thu Feb 06, 2014 9:47 pm
We need it most & I believe we have every chance of pulling it off.
I'd take a draw right now, especially if we can beat Villa on Tuesday.
I believe Monk will try something different just to try & make his own mark on the team, can't wait for this one. Press really playing this up now!

We need it most.

Us. Need to put a good run together now. As much as I hate swansea football club, I still feel they have enough to go on a good run that takes them away from the danger zone even if we beat them, not sure about us though if we lose. That's my honest take on it, although I'm probably wrong though, just think its important that we get something out of this game

Carl, If we win I honestly feel there will be no stopping us and we will go from strength to strength.
I honestly feel if we lose, we still have a a very good chance of staying up.
If the Jacks win then I think they will stay out of the relegation zone this season, if they lose then if I was them I would start to believe they will prob continue their slide down the table.

Cracking question.
My first thought was we do. We are the ones in the zone.
But they could do with a lift and theyre about to go on a very difficult run of games.
So we could do with the win and they really could do without losing.
And christ i could do without the stress of being a Bluebird!

Definitely Cardiff. Need to get out of the bottom three very immediately.
Swansea are ok because he is a new manager and he's only had a few days.
But i saw photos of him in UK press shaking hand with Flores and they did
not look in each others eyes. still a big problem there i think

100% agree. I feel we can add more weight to their sinking ship with a win this weekend Annis.

We do cos if we lose I think we are as good as down
villa and hull aint easy games and if we lose I could see us struggling in both games
villa are setup for away games cos of there pace on the break and could cause us big problems
swansea on the other hand will be gutted but have a little breathing space atm and time to sort it out
could well be a 0-0 game with both sides scared to go forward

Pressure is really on the jacks but Monk will have them well up for it.
Regardless of the derby it's an away game and therefore a draw would be a point gained for us and 2 dropped for them.

I would argue that the Jacks need the win more. We could quite happily walk away with a draw and it will be a point gained, however should Swansea fail to beat the bottom but one team in the league then questions will remain over their form and Monk as manager. The pressure us all on them to win

I want loads more top flight welsh derby games. One day it will be like the Merseyside derby I hope.
Welsh football is on the rise. Keep on rising
Thu Feb 06, 2014 10:43 pm
Us, 3 points and a confidence boost.
Thu Feb 06, 2014 10:43 pm
Unquestionably we do - 3 points for them sees us struggling to catch them, whereas three for us and they are right in the mix.
I reckon we have the psychological edge on them though - Bellamy will wind them up and I'd be amazed if they finish with 11 on the pitch
Thu Feb 06, 2014 10:56 pm
Swansea need to avoid defeat - for history reasons alone
Thu Feb 06, 2014 11:12 pm
If we do win then we are 1 point off what I thought we would get this month.. it's an away game we can win and Ole has shown away from home we can really put teams under the cosh.

The pressure will all be on you, your at home,u lost the first game and your on the slide and the pressure might just get to much for Monk. Ole can handle pressure, I honestly have a good feeling about this game.
As to staying up there for 4 yrs for us, who knows, but fair play to u, uve far exceeded what I thought u would
Fri Feb 07, 2014 7:30 am
I would say its pretty equal, we both need it.
The good thing is the pressure is on Swansea, because they are home, and because we are on for the double.
If we were to win it would send shock waves around Swansea and even Hartson and James would realise they are in trouble, and with a new inexperienced Manager, could send them down..........
Fri Feb 07, 2014 12:42 pm
We need a win from this game - we need 9+ points from Feb to even stand a chance of staying up so it means a lot more to us in footballing terms
In regards to pride - Swansea may have been the first Welsh Club in the PL but if we can be the first team to do the double.. that would be special
