The most divisive figure at Cardiff in the last 100 years?

Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:18 pm

Who is it? Which person in the history of the club is responsible for causing the most upset, disagreement or hostility for players or fans?

Vincent Tan. Never before has promotion to the top flight been so bitter-sweet for a fan base.

Not since Scarfgate. I don't agree with trying to brainwash fans with red scarves and I don't agree with giving Tan of any of my money. I watch all the games online thanks Willy Plonka whilst you're off down the egg oiling yourself up at the prospect of Henson grappling with other men.

Mr Dewey and his board for selling Toshack.
There are still people who haven't been to a game since!

That was a common complaint for decades. Used to hear it all the time. Still suspect that most of them drifted back occasionally, though.

Tbf it was probably an excuse for a load of plastics who wanted glory! But there's no doubt that the sale (or possibly the delay in getting the replacement)blew our chances big time and even though we still came close it was downhill from there.

No doubt at all that the sale cost us promotion. Alan Warboys did fine when he came, but the delay was costly. But more than that, the sale of Toshack seemed to show a massive lack of ambition by Fred Dewey and the board. It knocked the stuffing out of the season. The defeat to Watford at home really ended promotion, and by the time we played Sheffield United at Brammall Lane, the writing was on the wall. The rest, as they say, is history.

To be honest, I have not thought much about 70/71 in the last year or two. I suppose the excitement of finally making it took over. I was 13 at the end of that season. Little did I realise that I would be 55 by the time we eventually made it to the 'First Division'!
