Leeds boss Brian McDermott has reported for duty at the club's training ground as normal on Monday, despite appearing to have been sacked on Friday.
Prospective new owner, Massimo Cellino, had attempted to dismiss McDermott, 52, but Leeds have since said he will remain as manager.
The club are to hold a press conference at 13:15 GMT on Monday.
"We want Brian back and we want him managing the club again," club director Salem Patel told BBC Radio Leeds.
On Friday, a lawyer representing Cagliari owner Cellino, who has agreed to buy a 75% stake in Leeds, subject to the deal being approved, called McDermott to inform him that he had been sacked.
However, the club released a statement the following day saying that the former Reading boss was to keep his job - despite assistant Nigel Gibbs taking charge of Saturday's 5-1 win over Huddersfield.
Patel, a member of the board and an executive with outgoing owners GFH Capital, said he was not informed of Cellino's plan to change manager.
"I was at home on Friday night and my wife started reading Twitter reports that Brian had been sacked," explained Patel.
"To be honest, I was shocked. I thought at least I would be privy to that information if it was going to happen.
"I called the chairman and he was equally surprised by the news.
"I called Brian and told him it was not something that was authorised by us. As soon as we found out, we reacted.
"We hired Brian, we hand-picked him and he has performed really well in the last year or so he's been here and we hope he continues to be our manager for the foreseeable future."

Nothing to do with fans.
he was sacked by someone not in any authority to do so

rumours ive heard was the potential new owner didn't want him as manager and had people represent him say he was no longer the manager but he doesn't have the authority to do so and left the current owner and board members baffled, but im sure I read that the potential owner said he also didn't have a clue and he didn't mind the current manager and why would he want to replace him

ive got a few die hard leeds mates and they honestly couldn't give me a straight answer

Leeds fans staged a huge protest at their game Saturday and all the players supported the manager. I'd say that swayed the decision somewhat. Unlike our sell outs and boo boys.
