But that free kick prior to him being taken off summed up his season. Would of been better off suited down the egg chasing. The change needed to happen.

The guy has had his day out if his depth I think. Superbly talented but it seems at times he is his biggest critic.
if only he had the belief and mindset to relish playing the best teams in England instead of feeling he isnt good enough and mentally going awol.
all is not over for Whittingham but he needs to be a squad player I dont think the pressure is good for him
I think he would prefer to be a big fish in a small pond

Being a playmaker is such fragile role. You have to have the confidence and be on the roll, or else timing and execution is wrong for everything. Being Norwegian I know that Eikrem is the same type. I think Ole is doubting if Eikrem can handle the premier league pace, and is not willing to test it at the moment. That leaves us with the in form Mutch at the moment, a player without any weaknesses

Did you go to Old Trafford ? He was probably man of the match up there . Whitts has been asked to play out of position for the last two seasons and never once moaned . A true city loyal legend in my opinion and I go back to the days of Barrie Jones and Ian Gibson ! People who disrespected him are a disgrace .

Loved his far post header against West Brom,or don't that count?

I genuinely believe both Barrie Jones and Ian Gibson were better players than Whittingham. They were more complete players, different eras I know, but they were prepared to close opposition players down put a foot in and make decisive tackles, particularly Ian Gibson.
Whittingham is finding the pace in the middle of the park to quick for him in the Premier League and although a good passer of the ball, his speed of thought is not quick enough and he slows the tempo of our passing game.
Earlier in the season his excellent dead ball delivery was crucial to Malky's plans to score goals from these situations but even that has deserted him lately.
His body language and demeanour on the field suggests that in his own mind he acknowledges that he is not good enough for the Premier League.
Ole does not have the time given our current position and run of games to provide the nurture he requires. If he gets another chance he has to man up and prove the fans wrong, there is no sentiment in professional football.

I was at Old Trafford too and I thought Dhaeli did more in ten minutes than Whitts did all game, but everybody else seems to think he was MOM
Shame as on his day in the Championship he was a class above most players in that division. Sadly, he hasn't stepped up to the higher level apart from the odd glimpse. I honestly didn't hear any booing on Saturday, but it was the right decision to take him off and I think it would be beneficial to him to be taken out of the front line at the moment.
I hope he can rediscover his confidence which has obviously taken a battering by being played out of position for two seasons and come back and make a useful contribution.

Reasonably good Championship player but not enough skill, pace or intelligence for the Premier. Aston Villa quicker off the mark than us, they offloaded him. Would love some club to take him off our hands

Could of left over 5 times to go to the Prem but stuck with us, fat juicy wage and a big chance of playing time with the clubs he was linked with.

He isn't the highest earner here and his contract with wages doesn't go up dramatically like some.

Thats irrelevent. I asked if he was on £200 a week! My guess it was more like £10-15k. He would have been a greedy fucker if he had wanted more than that

Whittingham is a true Cardiff City legend.
Everyone who booed him is clearly a johnnycome lately premiership at all costs plastic red army fan who'd probably never heard of Whittingham until they took their seats against Man City and had a look in their programmes at half time once their prawn sandwiches were finished.

Whittingham deserves better after that treatment Saturday, get behind him when he plays next.
