Cardiff City, a reflective look / hindsight

Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:17 pm

I read the thread today about Portsmouth still getting 16,000 fans in L2, it really struck me as impressive. They spent a fortune in the PL, we all remember Defoe, Crouch, Diarra & plenty other big money signings. The downside to this miss-management was administration. Wasn't John Utaka on 80k a week and he was shit? I wouldn't of moved on when asked on that wage!

I refuse to believe that Cardiff City FC would be dead if it wasn't for Tan, and if somebody can make a case for that im willing to listen.....

I know it would of caused outrage at the time, but if the squad was sold, and we started to pay the debts, the long-term future would be healthy even if it meant falling to L2 status and having a new sustainable policy of living within the income generated.

I didn't see our predicament at that time anything like Portsmouth's at all....we were not in as much debt and the hurt wouldn't of lasted for as long if we faced up to it!!!!

Tom listen to this. The IR had us in court and administration was not an option-it was a petition to wind us up as we were trading insolvent.Tan's money saved us not from admin but from going out of business completely and although many do not like what he's done since that is a fact. But don't take my word for it-its all a matter of record.

Thanks for the post, I am foggy on all the facts now... such a shame the club was run into the ground :ayatollah:

This is with hindsight, would we of been better off if Tan never invested in the club as it was my understanding from the rhetoric at the time that there was no option.

IR never ask for a lump sum...you can get away with just paying a bit at a time.....for me this question means alot and not idiotic in the slightest.

If we were in debt, sell the squad and start again...Owners have a reponsibility to keep the club trading

we had done the bit at a time stuff to death............there was no option at all, and tbh most were thrilled we had this billionaire investing................i keep reading threads like this which always have..we..us... if yours is a genuine question i am sorry................some have this notion that tan can walk away and by magic, he hasnt liquidated assets hasnt had the gate reciepts or tv money, he just walks and some imaginary we/us take the reigns..........he owns the club..a club that the truth is would not exist had he not come in..im not a fan of his just a realist

yeah I know, if we get an owner after Tan sympathetic to our traditions it would be worth it....miracles rarely happen, it needs to happen in 8-12 years otherwise the next generation of City fan will not only accept being red, but actually associate the colour to the team. :ayatollah:

Im going to get off the subject now as Im boring myself to death with all the moaning, I do understand the fans who are sticking by the team no matter what
