why has our atmosphere gone so bad??

Sun Feb 02, 2014 11:12 pm

We have been known for years for out fiery atmosphere on our own patch but for some reason to me it isn't there any more.

What's the reason for this ?

Is it the new stadium?

Where's the crazy atmosphere gone from the days Wed be going mental in the grangeend and singing from the 1st - 90th minute ofthe game?

The only game this season to me where the atmosphere was electric throughout the whole game was man city!

Even the Swansea game atmosphere was Shit!

What do you reckon the main reason is why it has become dire at home games?

The away support has always been top notch but it's awful for home games, and we need to get it back!! :ayatollah:

We play in red.
It doesnt really feel like our team any more.

Defo all seated stadium. You can feel the differance when we attack and the crowd stand up where I am the longer they stay standing for the more attached you feel to the atmosphere, this also happens more when the team is playing well of course.

The sooner they introduce safe standing the better.

Plastic reds.

Red Dragons Unite have started threatening anyone who starts chanting.

I witnessed it against West Ham, a few loyal supporters with blue Scarves started chanting You Are My Cardiff but the Red Dragons Unite members swarmed them screaming it ins't your Cardiff any more before painting them red with their own blood.

Anyone wearing red should be banned. They make me sick. The sellout gene is the worst and is corrupting our human pool.

Which years have you been known for your fiery atmosphere? When terraces where common practice im football grounds? :D

Its been dead for the best part of a decade, nothing new, no main causes - just the modern fan.

Quite a contradicting statement there.

Not really, there isn't a main cause you can pin point and thus "correct" it - Its just the slow natural transformation of the fan. Which is an effect and not a cause. The cause is a multitude of things.

The causes:

1. Ugly fans
2. The sellout gene
3. People with iPad's who think they're better than everyone else
4. The colour red
5. Bad parenting

They make me sick. Dont get me started.

Too many fans who just want to sit down and watch the game, not saying that's a bad thing but that's the reason why the atmosphere has gone shit.

You get thrown out if you don't sit down.

*The ending of hooliganism is one factor as there is no aggression and heightened hostility in the atmosphere.

*All seater stadiums is another, its pretty hard to get animated when sat in a seat.

*New fans that have come along that think this is just the way it is supposed to be with no experience of good atmospheres.

*Modern football where fans feel detached from the club and players and there is not a feeling of "being innit together" anymore. Highlighted by Bellamy telling the fans to "f**k off you wankers" after scoring a goal for Cardiff.

*To follow on from the last point. I think there is some resentment underlying with the fans these days. The Sky money has rocketed and the clubs now get £60-£70m a year at least yet players wages go up and so does the cost to the community sticking prices up as high as they can get away with.

*Football prices have thus sky rocketed pricing a lot of the "working man" out of the game. I feel the noise is and was generated largely by the "working man". The price attracts too many of the prawn sandwich brigade to use an Irish mans phrase.

It is an emalgamation of different causes. Safe standing, lower ticket prices, designated singing areas and thats a very good start.

I agree with all of that. It all adds up. Personally I blame people within in the club like Wayne Nash for making sure the new stadium was set out differently to Ninian Park, so vocal fans wouldn't be anywhere near the away fans.

Yep , recall mr Nash saying he wished the fans who used to populate block a were not welcome , or something to that effect . The club want us to pay up, sit down and f**k off .

We're not fans anymore, we're customers. Customers are expected to buy their product and/or service and then get lost.

For me it's the red.

Yes, the atmosphere has been in decline for some time, but the last two seasons are notably worse, and they have also been the best two seasons on the pitch for donkeys years.

People feel a passion and identity to a club and that inspires noise. When you rip that up and replace it with something more alien it naturally impacts on the atmosphere.

Dirty sellout franchise plastic glory supporting fans who lap it up because their beloved United and Liverpool went through periods of struggle so they go down the city instead to lap up the glory of going up etc.

Where were all these fans when we were on brink of admin?
Where were all these fans when we were under embargoes and the HMRC wanted to put us through?

Nowhere near our club thats for sure. Sellouts and franchise supporters. The club is dead imo and will be reborn when Tan sells up, we're back in blue and if takes admin then so be it. Rather stand next to 5000 loyal supporters in the conference or even the Welsh league than fans booing legends like Whitts. The sooner the club is rid of this vermin type of fan the better.

The atmosphere wasn't always brilliant at Ninian Park. It ebbs and flows. Always has done. Depends on what's appending in the game, normally.

What pisses me off more than anything, is that I have friends who wear red, and I know for an absolute fact that they never used to watch City until about two years ago and support other clubs.

There is nothing wrong with that per se, but when they mock me for wearing blue and not embracing the red then something is very very wrong.

Tan values those fans more than me, and as such I don't feel much connection with the club anymore. I'm less inspired to get a hoarse voice over a club I don't recognise and a club who don't value me as a fan.

Bad times IMO.

Decent people though who didn't abuse club legends like Whittingham. Thats the difference. Half of the people in our current season probably dont even know Whitts has over 300 appearances for us.

Yeah there is loads of them mate and they're the most opinionated idiots you can get.

I know I, and a few others, used to get abused for supporting Cardiff. I used to get mocked quite a bit for it in year 11 by people who supported Chelsea/Arsenal/United. Why you support Cardiff for? they're crap....yet I continued going and standing on the Bob Bank alongside proper Cardiff fans and loyal fans like Scott who uses this board. Now some of those very fans support Cardiff. They're a joke.

Tan values those fans more than me, and as such I don't feel much connection with the club anymore. I'm less inspired to get a hoarse voice over a club I don't recognise and a club who don't value me as a fan.

Tan values them because they're just sheep who do as he says - keep paying for the service and he gets what he wants - all he really cares about is money and himself.

The atmosphere is crap because the family stand should be up the other end and the Canton next to the away fans, the atmosphere would change for the better if this was the case. I blame those two jobs worthsWayne Nash and Julian Jenkins, they've turned would should be a bouncing stadium into a library.

Nonsense. Its crap because of the plastics are all miserable soulless buggers who have never experienced fun in their lives. They loved Malky because Malky's football was as depressing as they are. A match made in heaven to be honest.

Stewarding - You can't do anything these days without a tap on the shoulder, - Don't sing, don't stand, don't celebrate too loudly, don't smile, don't fart, - the list goes on

Fat spoilt rich kids with their rugby following dads.

in all honesty I think our fans are mostly an ungrateful overy high expectated bunch of negative breeding plastics.
who only sing when rooney or suarez are on the pitch.
If its Norwich they wont even bother going
