The stats don't lie about Whittingham

Sun Feb 02, 2014 7:25 pm

Had a bit of a mare yesterday as Ole played him too deep but he's still better than Medel in defensive work and attacking work yet his possession score is the issue. This is because Medel and others keep passing it to him when he's covered and expect him to do something with it. He's a gifted technical player but he's not a magician or someone like Ozil who can produce something of genius.

I just re-watched some of our highlights and thats clear to see. If Whittingham was utilised more in more advanced positions he would do fine as thats where he's used to playing.

Image

His possession and ball retention however is letting him down because he's being played too deep. He's not used to being so deep as he started off on the wing and then attacking midfield. Now he's playing central midfield which is idiotic.

Image

A player like Whittingham should never be playing this deep - as shown in the picture below - he should be playing just off the striker, creating and being the link between the two wingers and spreading to get width and the striker. He should not be defending by our box.

Image

Its time to stop blaming Whittingham for errors managers have made. The last manager to play Whitts in his correct position was Dave Jones and also he was the last manager to get the best from Whitts. That tells you everything you need to know.

Play a 4-1-4-1 and have Mutch and Whittingham sat in front of Medel. He can sweep up in behind and Whitts can be more forward dictating play.

Whittingham played a lot better in a blue shirt.

It's quite clear to me that he's actually anti-rebrand and he's trying to bring Tan down from the inside :ayatollah:

This I agree, I reckon Tan was purposely telling Malky to make Whitts sit deep so he doesnt score anymore goals as punishment

The term 'spastic' is offensive, not to me, but maybe others out there who read this board. Do you not even think of these people when you say such terms? Clearly not.

Im not offended by you. I just find such offensive terms could be interpreted offensively by others out there. The fact you even responded with such a term just shows how insecure you really are to be honest.

Nothing I said contravened the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 though. What you said did, hence the need to report it. You could have abused me by any method but instead chose to use a frowned upon term that could offend many people out there. As an adult you should know better.

I love it when people use stats to try and cover up the obvious poor performance. Just watch the game and watch how Whittingham leaves his team mates exposed. I did a post recently saying I thought Whittingham's performances had started to improve. But yesterday, Ole saw what everyone else could see and that's why he pulled Whittingham off.

All Ole saw yesterday was that he made a tactical mistake and needed to change it. Nothing to do with singling out Whittingham as he pointed out in interview. Do people not trust our gaffer all of a sudden now? Either Whittingham is being singled out and Ole is a straight up liar or Ole is telling the truth. Which one is it?

Ole said after the game that Whittingham was underperforming and he doesn't accept that. It wasn't a tactical mistake at all and for you to say you think Ole made a tactical mistake shows you don't trust the manager.

No such act Im afraid. It was replaced in 2010 by the equality act. Which you actually broke first regarding a persons weight.

thanks.

Wrong and I quote:

“I felt it was right to bring Wilf on, it lifted the crowd and the players. We needed a lift. It could have been anyone I took off. I didn’t have too many doubts.

“[With regards to Peter Whittingham] I didn’t have any particular doubts in him. I thought Jordon Mutch had gotten into the game with his forward runs in the centre, and that’s why I felt Peter was the one to sacrifice. Wilfried is young, he’s exciting and he’s one of the best I’ve seen with the ball at pace.

He didn't slate Whittingham. He just felt Mutch got into the game more and a tactical change was needed. He sacrificed Whittingham to make a tactical change to change things up. He himself admitted it was an unorthodox change but it needed to change tactics and try something different.

Nowhere does it show he has lost faith in Whitts. In fact two lines in particular explicitly go against that belief.

I can't believe people quite happily waste hours on this forum having their little, petty, pointless, point scoring arguments. I seriously think the mods should delete all posts that don't contribute to the thread topic. The only problem is with some of the posters on here derailing countless threads, it will take forever to do!

Nothing in there relating to weight Craig so stop lying. The only way that could relate is if your weight is due to a disability and its not at all.

The only person crying in this thread and others is you.

I think they should bring a point scoring system into this forum so posters can actually score points so we can finally work out who has actually won the argument :ayatollah:

Obviously some people will consider getting negative points to be a win but that's just variety :ole:

So your job is the equality act yet you're abusing disabled people with terms like 'spastic' on the internet. Priceless.

I would give Peter a cuddle. I'd tell you to the same but I don't want one of our key players smothered to death.

He isnt a key player as ole proved by hauling his ass off after 37 mins.

Again, breaking the equality act 2010 by discriminating about a persons weight.

If you cant take abuse do not dish it out in the first place.

safe to say you wouldnt do it to my face.

lets not clog up the thread, if you wish to respond pm me

Done to cover up Ole's tactical mistake first of all. Even Ole admitted he needed to change tactics.

Again, breaking the equality act 2010 by discriminating about a persons weight.

No it doesn't. It doesn't cover that at all. You must think I was born yesterday.

If you cant take abuse do not dish it out in the first place.

I can take it but as someone who works in regards to the EA2010 you should know better really than to call people spastics on the internet.

safe to say you wouldnt do it to my face.

Yes I would. Its not like you're going to catch me is it? Once you're out of a breath then I'd just combo you.

He had a poor game for me, stats or no stats it was just the way he was in the game.

Obviously being one his biggest supporters I hope he picks himself up and the team help him as the fans were embarrassing.
