Broners previous opponents were pretty much cherry picked to suit his style ( nothing wrong with that as you work your way up the ranks) which made him look good. He fought smaller opponents at a lower weight against
People who would fight on the outside thus giving broner the time and space to get his shots off and rack up a pretty impressive highlight reel. Add to that broners self publicity and a style based on the greatest modern day fighter and your getting a great deal of expectation and fans saying he can go all the way. I'm not saying he's not any good but I'd say he was overhyped and unproven but with good potential ( I didn't see the ponce de Leon fight but that was a good win, can't remember if it was controversial or not). When he fought Gavin Rees he was a massive favourite but I thought it would be a good test of how he copes with someone coming at him and not standing off and having less time with his shots. The fight went as expected but Rees had shown that broner is no mayweather as there were cracks in his defence and that attacking style could beat broner. Malagnaggi also showed that broner has some fundamental flaws and stylistically broner should have walked that one. 2 varying styles both having success against broner and let's face it Rees and malagnaggi were not top class fighters. My doubts prior to the maidana fight were increasing my dislike for this cocky shot also increasing, my joy everytime he got tagged and hit the deck increasing. Broner can go on and have a good career but I would expect cherry picked opponents and low risk options in future ( which is not so good once you have reached championship level as you should fight the best). Broner is going to look to build his highlight reel back up and recreate the hype. He's talented but tries to hard to be someone else and has several limitations,

Broner believed is own hype...
Instead of believing in himself.

Also he wasn't as good as the hype suggested.
Talented and will come again.

The defeat could actually be the making of him.

Im glad he got beat. He said something about once Mayweather has finished he is the next big draw before the fight and was actually serious about it which I just found too funny. The ones I'll be watching from now on are Garcia and GGG. Im glad Broner got humbled, it was much needed, especially with his lifestyle and diet, which is disrespectful to Floyd's methods in itself. The guy is a tool.

I liked broner for his boxing ability but after him still talking shit like Barnett just said and his conditioning is a joke he cant even make it back down to 140 where he never campaigned before and the new mayweather shit is a joke in fairness maidana musta knocked a screw loose, GGG is lined up to face andy lee apparently now im a lee fan but GGG will walk through him, Garcia and Peterson next and that be a war
