A forum for all things Cardiff City
Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:03 am
I wish we could stop slagging our players off.
Cardiff City are going through a transition from a negative style of play to a more adventurous style, whilst time is not exactly on our side, the team has to adapt. Our defence which takes a bit of criticism is still very young, the average age before Theo came on yesterday was about 21/22, very inexperienced especially for the premiership. Ben Turner has taken some of the flak but yesterday you could see him urging the defence to take a higher line when we were under siege in the last 10 mins.
Whittingham and Bellamy have came in for criticism from people around me during the Man Utd and Norwich games for the quality of the corners. What they probably don't realise is that they have swapped the sides from which they take the corners and are now trying out-swingers as well as in-swingers, this obviously adds complexity due to trying to keep the ball in play. This doesn't happen overnight when you are used to doing things a certain way, yes they are professionals, yes they are paid a lot of money, they are also human and need time to adapt and change, this applies to Whitts and the ever changing role he has to play. I am not a lover of Declan John and have said so in previous post but I am prepared to give the guy time to learn and adapt.
Yesterday we played some good stuff and the more our players adapt the better we will get, lets look at the bigger picture, lets get off the players backs and start showing what real support is about, starting with the Jacks next week.

Nothing wrong with coming on a forum and stating what you think. World of difference to booing someone at the game

Good post mate and I agree with all of it. (Apart for young Dec who I think has been thrown in at the deep end early).
I think some of our fans (on here) think it is clever to go to our games and look for negatives. Personally i think it's pathetic. I will back our players until it becomes no longer possible but some can't wait to sharpen their knives yet they probably haven't kicked a ball in their lives!
Not long ago someone was even trying to have a go at Marshall. It beggars belief on times.

There is also a world of difference between saying that you would prefer someone else in the side or you prefer someone be bought in a position than rushing on here to call someone shit or a donkey.

It's not a new thing, it is the same club with the same fans. Unfortunately we have and always have had loads of fickle arseholes following us, apart from Newcastle I cant think of anyone as bad. Whitts got slagged as he was shit, as did chris pike as did richard langley etc etc.

It happens at every club, its not just us

But this is an internet forum where people should be able to be honest. I dont like ktc for example, but I wouldnt boo him during a game.
I've never understood why people seem to think we cant have an opinion on an internet forum

Totally agree with this I don't agree with booing players at the game and wouldn't ever do it, but why shouldn't we be able to criticise players that are performing badly, they are paid a huge amount of money to do a job and if they don't do it well they shouldn't just be patted on the back and told well done you tried. If a regular person under performs at their job they are criticised just needs to be constructive. All I care about is the bluebirds doing well and will be behind them every game they play but if someone plays crap I'm not gunna hold my tongue.

Players are bound to read these forums as a gauge and I'm not saying all criticism is out of bounds by any stretch of the imagination. My problem is the fact that people are chomping at the bit to criticise. The fact that someone was running down marshall a few weeks ago says it all.

I dunno how anyone could run down Marshall if it wasn't for him we would be in a lot worse shape than we are.

Agree with you both and the OP.
But what I will say is that 27,000 threads on whitts slagging him off is beyond, same happens with other players too we get half a page of threads slagging the same people off. Even Admin/Mods sticky personal views as if anyone gives a f**k.
Forum is getting beyond with all the criticism.

Good post, yesterday there was a guy slagging off Kenwyne after 13 mins

Whittingham doesn't deserve it but Bellamy deserves the abuse, if he can generalise us all and slag us off then f**k him I'll give my views on the no neck prick

I know craig some seem to think its just our club and our fans
I wouldnt go out for to to eat shit or i would say to the manager "excuse me sir but this meal taste like shit"
I wouldnt buy a car then moan to the guy who sold me it "i dont like the colour now"
and so on........
people seem to forget that we as the modern day paying customer are intitled to do and say as we please just like tan has and will do as its his money so the same reason fans can say whatever they like weather online or in the stadium
