The only mistake Ole made was...

Sun Feb 02, 2014 9:52 am

starting Whitts in my opinion. Before anyone bumps their gums Im not a "plastic" and have been a fan for 25 years but we have to start looking at this holistically. Whitts is no where near where he needs to be, or where the team needs him and him starting showed a lack of ambition for me.
His touches and creativity were dire again yesterday and I think Zaha changed the game completely. The move also seemed to give Bellars new belief and I think we had the best 55 mins from him for a long time. Looked almost the Bellars of old second half.

Cant say I heard much of the booing but at the same time I dont think Bellars coming out saying what he did has helped things either.

We have got a win this club needed more than anything and although we were camped in last 10 you have to say well done to Ole for making the change. We would prob have gone to lose 2/3-0 if not imo the way we were going.

What I also like with Ole is he doesnt pull wool over eyes with his interviews. He is always honest saying what didnt work, and I think it shows a sense of realism, not what we have had in past saying we were immense etc. So come on Ole, we have the win we need lets now start playing with more confidence.....

Bellers said that we are not the club he knew. Now some will say Bellers was not a Cardiff fan. As he is a Cardiff lad then I will give him the benefit of doubt and say he is a fan and also I will agree with him.

What Bellemy said needed to be said. Maybe a Cardiff boy and former Wales Captain gives him the privilege that wouldn't be afforded to other players. We are in a battle and our fans showed up less than the players in the first half.

Whitts is talented but does he fit in what Ole is trying to do. Is Mata shit because Jose didn't select him ? Is Ledley premium class ? It all depends on the style and systems.

We brought on an England international winger of course he changed the game !! To accommodate the change we needed to revise our formation, bringing Whitts off was the correct thing to do, but it could have been dealt with better by our fans

I honestly think Whittingham has got into the stats game. I'm far from being someone who wants him to fail so I can say I told you so, on the contrary there is no player I'd love to prove me wrong more.

It's his lack of urgency and his fear of doing anything which is not the safest option that bugs me the most. He never ever backs himself these days but just goes through the motions.
I don't expect him to be our Roy Keane but what I do expect is for him to shoot or at least make a pass with some intent.

I'm gutted he hasn't stepped up because we all know that he is capable of doing so.
In the carling cup final against Liverpool he bossed the midfield, but he has become a shadow of the player of this days.

As Thomasblue said, playing our best midfielder Mutch wide was a mistake but he rectified it pretty quickly so credit for that.

Something that is being glossed over is how lucky we were :D I mean Bassong missed a header from 6 yards right in the centre of goal...If Norwich were a better team they would of scored another goal before half-time as we were there for the taking.

OGS got it wrong, and I agree with the poster....we need the threat of Zaha to keep the opposition worried :ayatollah:

The start we made meant that any decent team would of punished us badly.....Marshall pulled off some blinding saves, I can't remember Ruddy in the Norwich goal being that busy apart from picking the ball out of his net twice

We are still along way from getting out of the relegation mire, Sunderland, West Ham, Stoke all won and I am not convinced yet that we are better than anyone else in the league... we need to play better than we did yesterday...I think we can do it! :ayatollah:

Any decent team, so you mean the top 8 isit? We are not really in a battle with the top 8 but with the weaker teams down the bottom, who miss chances like thy had which is why they are in the bottom half.

As backwards as this may sound sometimes it's going to be harder to play teams like Norwich even at home, these "6 pointers" are obviously going to see the opposition coming at us with everything in an attempt to gain points from what are also their "easier" games.
As for whitts I won't get in on the player bashing just no need for it, as an observation I do agree he is too slow for the way we want to play, sometimes chosing a safe pass etc am slowing us down on the break..
What I will say though is he is an obvious talent and would be better off playing further up if we were to play him swap him and Mutch use Mutch box to box and alow whitts to push further up

West Ham battered us...we have to improve :ayatollah:
