Medel

Sat Feb 01, 2014 7:10 pm

I thought today Medel was superb as soon as whitts went off gary seemed to push out of the deep holding midfield and push the ball forward every tackle he missed he chased until he rectified his mistake he looked so much better being able to pass the ball forwards and he had a big will to win today

Agreed it was great to the Gary Medel we all know back. He was excellent today.

I agree. He was all at sea earlier in the season when MM tried to double him up in DM with Gunnerson, but when left to control the area by himself he shines.

A class act. We'd be in deep shit without him

I look forward to the day he scores for us - I bet he'll go ape shit.

He had a great game today though, aye.

For me he was man of the match. Absolutely brilliant performance from gary. Hopefully shuts his critics up on here recently.yes marshall made some world class saves and i can see why they anounced him man of the match, but to be fair to gary, he didnt stop. Would love to see the stats in how much ground he covered today. Great timing in time for the scum

Medel was back to his best against Norwich. 100% committed and got stuck in. He ran and ran, good passing and he made a huge amount of tackles.

The 50-50 tackle In the Norwich box in the second half was brilliant. At the limits of his stretching ability but still got the ball and stood up straight away!

Back to his old brilliant self yesterday. Just in time for the derby :ayatollah:

It's strange how all the Medel critics are missing from this thread today.

I agree with the above posts, just let him do his job as we don't need 2 players to screen in front of the defence, best form of defence is attack!!

Gary Medel just lacked the confidence because the midfield is not that good...I still believe we are missing an class centre-midfielder, a box-to-box type.

Gary is awesome, there is no way you can play for Chile otherwise....Chile gave England a lesson on how to play football at Wembley :ayatollah:

I think it was Malky's degenerating negatives tactic that stifled him. Ole's more positive pushing everyone forward has given him more space.

^very true  give the man more responsibility and he thrives.

I'm still not convinced , although in fairness I thought he played well yesterday.

What worries me is the amount of attempts on goal teams seem to have against us, which is frightening and needs sorting out.

Whether or not this is down to the formation played or personnel I don't know but it's all too easy to say our back four look shaky , however I think a lot of this is attributed to our midfield offering them very little protection.

Granted , a lot of the attempts yesterday were off target , but for the opposition to be having that many attempts against us would suggest there's a problem and let's be honest it's not the first time it's happened this season and we won't always be as fortunate as we were yesterday.

He was immense yesterday, just love a Medel moment, crunching tackle or cheeky bit of skill always gets the crowd up

I disagree and believe that Jordon Mutch would walk into any team outside the top 8

He's too inconsistent. Some games he's exceptional, others he goes missing.

I think he's been average in recent months but now looks happy as Larry under OGS.

We played El Pitbull.
