A forum for all things Cardiff City

There was a full supporters meeting last night with our Club at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Some of the travel group organisers said how upset they were by the big price increase for Season tickets for the 2014-15 Season and how come it had been brought forward to the 28th Feb to buy it. Some even accused Tans advisors ect of advising Vincent Tan on both of these issues.
They were reassured that Tan did this by himself and Tan had said if we want to compete in the Premier League then the fans had to pay the prices.
What if were relegated they asked, the reply was the price increase still stands.
They then asked what is the total they received last season from just basic season ticket holders, they were told £6.9mill Approx.
The reply was surely all the money you receive from Sky means you dont need to increase the prices. The answer was it was Tan who decided.
You say we need to encourage new fans, does this encourage them?
33% increase in the last 2 seasons.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=134568I will be renewing but thankfully I am still on the price freeze.
Before anyone has a go at me for posting this, yes I am anti Tan, but I am just posting exactly what happened at the meting last night.

He is right on that IF we are to compete in the prem then fans may need to pay a little more, bit I am not paying the xtra because I believe we will be relegated, and I'm not paying all that for champ footy, no chance!
Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:38 am
Don't know how they can justify that increase. Can't speak for adults, but how to they expect young adults to pay £300, plus the match day costs? Shocking.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:40 am
Unfortunately we are paying the price for premiership football, but im still renewing regardless of which division we are in.
Question is - will we fill 35,000 seats every week?
Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:41 am
I'm still on the prize freeze I think so what is the increase from last year for 'normal' ticket prices?
Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:44 am
Price hike is shite......but I suppose the price freeze bubble was due to burst soon.
That wasn't the best business move to make.
Just be glad that we've had the one of the cheapest season tickets in the prem this season.....that's even without those on a price freeze.
He's committed with cash, now its our turn.....I suppose that's the basic crux of it all.
Can't believe people are asking for price reductions if we get relegated though.......sad feckers.
Works out less money per match if we go down as there's more games played anyway. Also, did these fans offer to pay more on their early bird ST's after we gained promotion?? Of course not.

This is not an issue that is unique to Tan or Cardiff City. Football has changed and I f*cking hate it to be honest. These chairmen, Scudamore (the c**t) and all the other football bigwigs should begin to realise what football means to the common man. Every year we see more money from television and sponsorship yet this only adds to inflated wages for players and not one penny goes to helping or listening to fans!
I for one cannot wait til the bottom falls out of English football and we are forced to rebuild in a similar way to Germany.
I have 3 lads and at the moment only one comes to games with me (thank f**k cos that's all I can afford) but sooner or later the others will want to come and i'll have a big decision to make on whether I can continue to afford to go.
Every single year teams get away with putting their prices up and therefore more and more people are watching football for the "experience". Already we hear people grizzling that the atmosphere has gone and what can we do to get it back? Well for a start lower the prices so you can attract people for whom football is not an "experience" but a way of life!

There will be seats everywhere in the champ so I can't see any reason in buying a season ticket for that price, you are pretty much losing money by paying that for the championship, especially if you miss a few games you will not be getting your monies worth.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:50 am
In all fairness even though I don't like it we were pretty cheap this year and the increase puts us about average in the league . Tan is right if we want to compete in this league we need to raise more money .
I don't think the increase has been that harsh and it is in line with the league we are in . You can't have premier league football with championship prices it just doesn't work .
These are this years average prices , even with the big increase it will still put us mid table .
£299 Manchester City
£325 Aston Villa
£349 West Bromwich
£378 Newcastle
£379 Cardiff City
£395 Hull
£399 Stoke
£400 Sunderland
£449 Fulham
£449 Swansea
£469 Everton
£490 Crystal Palace
£519 Norwich
£532 Manchester United
£585 Southampton
£595 Chelsea
£640 West Ham
£710 Liverpool
£730 Tottenham
£985 Arsenal

The justification given was 'it brings us in line with clubs in similar positions' - Stoke, West Brom, Swansea.
Will be interesting to see how many commit before the end of Feb.
Lots on price freeze who will be OK - it's the ones who have committed in the last few years, who are having to pay a lot more, PLUS the 4000 extra that will be on sale which are going to be interesting.
Will be a real test of how many fans are committed to the club and how many just want cheap (because by comparison they are cheap -) Premiership season tickets.

Let's look at all sides.
1. Tan didn't have to honour Ridsdale price freez He did though so respect to him.
2.Someof you have hundreds of pounds to the good to cover any increase anyway and good luck to you.
3 many are winging about the increase but spend hundreds on away trips that are of no financial help to re club.
4. Many of us ex G.Stand season ticket holders paid out thousands of pounds for premier seat.
We suffered the same loss under Ridsdale but had nothing in return or even senior allowance
5. Our supporters moan continually want players in above our station. I suggest the moaners who like or dislike Tan check the competition prices.
Be nice if for once all sides of the coin were looked at not just the negative anti Tan/Club.

It would have happened if Sam was owner, premier league teams cash in, it's supply and demand. I am also on a price freeze but would pay it myself.
There are thousands fed up with modern football, and like the move in stadium and the rebrand this will give a few thousand more their excuse/ reason to leave.
Unfortunately there are thousands of the new type supporters ready to replace them, I don't like the increase either, but it was expected.

That is really sad and I am sure you are a genuine fan, but this unfortunately is the price of modern premier league football. It will have already happened at Chelsea and many big clubs, some fantastic genuine hard core fans will have been priced out of the market and replaced by glory hunting wealthier fans.......

still fairly cheap, fans want tan to invest in the squad etc but wont pay the prices ,the season tickets have been cheap for years now ,everyone knew this was coming

most loyal fans are on the price freeze still ,500 pound a year is less than £10 per week ,i put £10 of gas in meter every two days to put thigs in prospective

,at least we dont pay what chelsea, west ham, liverpool and arsenal pay
Sat Feb 01, 2014 5:12 pm
Its not that expensive,if we want good players we have to increase prices.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 5:50 pm
If tan wants to raise more money then surely a blue home kit will make everyone happy and unite all the fans. We would have sold absolutely thousands of shirts if they were blue in 1st ever premiership season. Opportunity missed.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 6:10 pm
I agree with tan we do need to stump up a little more, but I also want a bigger say.....
Tan never asked me about changing our colour and badge, but now he wants me to contribute toward his club, because thats what it is, he has made that perfectly clear.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 7:17 pm
Did everyone expect prices to stay the same (apart from the price freeze)

you have not been asked to contribute. You are paying to watch games of football. The prices are in line with other clubs. Its not great but not unexpected either.

Votes were conducted via CCSC/CCST, although not a big majority voted, the CCSC voted in favour to save the clubs future.

Why shouldn't there be a price increase? Beer goes up fags go up fuel goes up rent goes up and tickets for rugby go up
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:43 pm
My tickets will go up by 8.4% thats more than inflation.
But I am a consumer and as a consumer I have a right to purchase or not to purchase- I understand that.
Probably time to bow out. If we stay in the premier I will watch in the pub. If we are in the championship I will be able to pick and choose if if I want to go.
