Are you happy with the players we brought in this month ?
I am pleased with the signings of Jones and Fabio, excited about the signature of Zaha.
What little we've seen of Daehli, he looks an extremely talented player
Eikrem looks neat and tidy and I think he will grow into becoming a regular first team player.
Inge Berget, I know nothing about apart from YouTube videos.
I would liked to have seen us sign a centre half and reports suggested we certainly tried.
Another striker wouldn't have gone amiss either but barring injuries we should have enough to see us through the season.
Those who went out, I think that Ole was right with his decisions. For Cornelius it just weren't happening for the kid and it's a shame after he came with a big prospect tag attached and an even bigger price tag.
Maynard needed game time and it was obvious he wasn't going to get it at City.
Conway was an excellent player when called upon but he is another who would have wanted to play regularly.
What the hell has gone on with John Brayford ?
Overall I am pleased with our business, like everything in else in life I would like a little bit more but we have strengthened in areas that we were certainly lacking options so this is what we got and the fight starts today.
Bring it on

Ole was able to bring 6 players in and 6 players that he wanted and felt were capable of keeping us up in the Premier League. He has virtually brought in more than half a new team, plenty of points available and its all in our own hands to stay up. 45 points to play, let's go for it.
If Ole is happy I am happy as he is our manager

Ole has brought in half a side. As a manager coming in January you have to be happy with that and Ole cant have any complaints.
(By the way unban my account you scoundrels

)

if whitts, mutch, zaha and noone can among the goals aswell as supplying campbell and jones i reckon we might be ok, plenty of pace around...just about gelling i guess. Total football.....

Felt comfortable at the start of the season that we would survive and be a mid table team.
Now I feel it will be a miracle if we survive. 6 new additions with a number of our players being shipped out tells me we are desperate. It's a massive gamble we are taking.
Am I satisfied with the new players you ask. I just have this feeling it is not going to work.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:13 am
No - it was obvious to see that a strong CB is needed in our squad, especually after he brought in some attacking players
Some fans were not happy with Malky's defensive approach which is fair enough but..
My worry is that the attacking players we have got are still not good enough to be scoring 2+ goals a game as a team - and I feel our back four are going to take a battering
I hope that isnt the case - but I dont think that OGS has got enough cover in defense and he had the opportunity to do so

I have to agree here, the failure to bring in a CB could be a very coslty one. Lets hope I am wrong and Turner wakes up.

I see it as Ole has got rid of the unwanted players, we have still got 4 strikers on the books. Only position we are short is at CB and I am sure Ole tried to get one in, but if the price wasn't right I am happy he said no.
With the signings we have brought in, I can't really grumble about any. Not much money was spent and we have certainly improved the squad with every additio. Well maybe a question mark over the unknown quantity of Berget! With a good month on February and hopefully get a couple of cheeky results in March we could well be safe in mid April due to the confidence gained. A tough ask but I really have faith this year.

The signings we have made have improved the squad, but the teams around us have also strengthened.
Fulham have spent £11m on Mitroglou (sp?) who is a first teamer for a last 16 champ league side. Holtby will also be a good signing for them.
Palace have brought in some solid players. Hull have signed a couple of good strikers.
Not much gone on at Norwich and WBA and Long will be a miss for them. Stoke not done a great deal either.
I think we have done enough business to give us a good chance of staying up
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:26 am
Echoing many on here, the lack of a new CB could be costly. However, we may be in for some exciting games.
It seems OGS has bolstered the attack with Zaha and Jones as well as having Berger and Daehli who seems to be able to see a decent pass.
Let's hope its a case of, we score more than we let in. Role on some 3-2, 4-3 wins.
We also have the issue of blended in 6 players. Would love it to just fall in place while Palace and Fulham have a jigsaw that doesn't quite fit. Surely its our turn for a bit of luck in this department.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:27 am
I'm for Ole all the way and lets hope I'm feeling happy around 5pm tonight.
I would however have kept hold of Corneleus!
We've let him go for a big loss and I would have kept him available, especially as we've not managed to get that extra striker we were after. Let's hope we don't live to regret it.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:45 am
Happy with what we got to an extent but don't feel it's enough as we needed a CB and another striker. Quality not quantity was the key imo.
It's a gamble with Zaha and Fabio as neither have played much football yet we need them to be 100% from today. Really looking forward to seeing them though and hopefully they along with Zaha can supply the strikers with much better ball than they've been getting.
I don't think we will see much of the norwegians apart from daehli.
Jones should be a handful on the days he turns up, something he seems to be notorious for.
Ole clearly thinks the way up is through attack and I can't see us keeping many clean sheets, yet Palace have won 7 games despite scoring only 15 goals all season. Do we have it in us to scrap for 1.0 wins home or away?
Of course the key thing is that other teams around us strengthened, particularly Fulham and Palace to a lesser extent so overall I feel we have strengthened only to stand still.
The Championship beckons I'm afraid.

All but a CB yes.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:57 am
I am very happy with the players brought in but we did unfortunately fail to address the two main issues we have, a CB to partner Caulker and a goalscoring striker, although not through lack of effort.
Can't really blame club, the players they went for were very impressive but there is no getting away from the fact that being bottom of the Premier League will have influenced the decisions of quite a few of those seasoned overseas players and strikers in this country such as Cisse, McCormack, Le Fondre were only ever going to be available at ridiculous prices.
Whatever happens this season, when we look at the players obtained and the class of players we went for, I think we can all be confident that the calibre of players brought in this Summer will be 100 times better than that obtained by Malky and at a fraction of the price. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the new players will gel and we will be looking for players for the Premiership rather than the Championship next season
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:01 am
As long as our manager is happy that is all that counts
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:03 am
Go along with the OP but too little too late I feel.
Had Malky not wasted so much in the summer I am sure Ole would have been given more funds to bring in a quality striker.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:03 am
The question I would like answered is why did we leave it so late to sign mc cormack ?
But overall I'm quite pleased with what we got

C'MOM CITY. Three points today
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:03 am
At least Ole now has a nucleus of his own team, rather than Malky's. I'm also pleased that most of the business has been done before deadline day, meaning we have already been able to get our players into training with the squad. Palace will still have to introduce their players to each other!
A win today would take a lot of pressure off Ole and the team
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:05 am
The Guerra deal may not be dead. His contract is up in June and he could buy it out and join us on a free (signing on fee would cover termination fee) all depends if player wants it.

Malkys defensive approach which wasnt working post September so we might as well have a go.

I would have liked a proven goalscorer as we are heavily dependent now on Campbell. At least we now know where we stand until the seasons end. C'MON BLUEBIRDS LETS GET STUCK INTO THEM

Yes, I'm happy with the new players, but a bit concerned about Turner and Hudson, I feel that they are Championship defenders and not quite up to the mark, I hope they prove me wrong.

Carl, i'm very concerned about our lack of cover up front and in central defence, only having two strikers will mean we'll be starting games with only one up front, (i not sure if Inge Berget is ready) i was hoping, especially at home that we could go with two strikers from the start, the same applies for our centre halves, three to fight it out for the two places available and lets be honest, only caulker looks comfortable in the premiership, i'm happy with the choices we have for full backs and in midfield / wingers so we'll have to go with what we've got.

But why leave it until the last minute to go in for Cisse/MacCormmack?
Couple of days ago would have made more sense surely?

Cisse ws offered to us yesterday.
ross and club both deny we bid for him
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:17 am
playing 1 up front is fine if the likes of medel, wolff and Whitts can work the ball and get any 3 from Zaha, Daehli, Noone, Bellamy, Kim or Berget in close support to Jones or Campbell.
It becomes a problem when the lone striker is isolated and we are hitting hopeless balls to him which is pretty much what we saw 1st half of the season.

Because it became clear on transfer deadline day that our first choice better quality and better value overseas targets were not going to be signed

Another cb was needed in my opinion but if worse comes to worse he could actually put medel there. Perhaps he has already tried it in training and it's a realistic option for him

We probably approached players/agents weeks ago, it will be them who have waited untill the last minute hoping for a better club/deal than us, a lot of the players we were reported to be after was a load of crap also being bottom of the league doesn't give us much of a bargaining head start on the other clubs.
