Whos renewing/not renewing their season ticket for next year

Sat Feb 01, 2014 6:36 am

Interested to see what the overall thoughts are of the forum. Are most people happy and able to spend the extra £150 rise on a ticket for next season? Or is it simply too much? Leave your reasons below too if you want.

If you get relegated then your drop in attendance is going to be frightening.

Chuckles said I was trolling this time last year when in response to him saying they would be getting 30,000 attendances with the expansion in 2014/15.... I said it was my firm belief your average attendance would be around 17,500.

I maintain this.

Im going to watch St Pauli in Germany in a few weeks time.....Bundesliga 2 is where its at! I am not an organized person, I like to turn up a the turnstiles after beers with mates, not pay too much for the ticket.

Sounds good. Germans have got it right.

I didnt realise before coming to Australia how bad British sport treats its fans.

Australia is a more expensive country anyway so you would expect higher ticket prices, but not a bit. The average sporting event is $20 - $30 which is about £12 - £17 and all local public transport is free with a match ticket. Loads of freebies on entry and good beer and food inside.

It seems in Britain, clubs build a fanbase in order to leech as much money as possible off them.

Yes! very true, I am very excited about going...my friend has been before and invited me, he told me about St Pauli and their history and I was sold, the club being anti-fascist, liberal views etc.. Rock bars next to the stadium, AC/DC blasting as the teams enter the field...cheap & cheerful.

Yes, maybe it's been this way in Britain for along time, and now Cardiff are promoted we are realising we are not the scale of it...I feel like a customer in the U.K and not a supporter....the last time I was at the CCS in the Championship, I had a bloke asking me & my dad to sit down..Everyone was standing, the start of the plastics creeping into the game.....I reckon it could be a great atmosphere today as the plastics will head for the millenium istead

As normal with British football supporters there will be alot of moaning and then the majority will all put their hands in their pockets, pay up and be shafted as usual    Oh of course a few hundred might have a mega demonstration outside the ground !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Truth is though like many Im assuming, I got a wife & kids and not on a mega wage....I can't justify paying for a season ticket   I wish fans from all the clubs would unite and get clubs to put the prices down....they don't need the excess money, half of it gets wasted (Cornelius, Fellaini, Maiga, Ricky Van Woolfswinky etc)

Wouldn't care if the club ended back in League One. A competitive league, affordable for the working class who are better and more fun and enjoyable imo to be around instead of miserable corporate suits who just sit and whine because daddy bought them Football Manager for Christmas 10 years in a row. The PL is rubbish. Championship is better. Id rather be in the Championship and just go for cup runs every year. We're never going to win the PL anyway. Its a waste of time.

If we were to be successful, it would of been awesome just not to get carried away by it all, have a very principled club ethos.....I would prefer Cardiff invested its money into the fan base rather than buying expensive imports and chasing success

That money from the T.V companies, why not put a freeze on ticketing or even lower them, have the cheapest tickets in the PL and embarras the rest...have real pride in our club, other fans would be in awe of us, you can always find players who are not all about the money too, although that statement is harder to back-up   :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We have about 15,000 people on the price freeze so these increases won't make a huge difference to a large majority of our season ticket holders.

Only has to be paid up by end of Feb if you want to reserve your current seat I think?

Break that 17,500 down then roathy - season ticket holders, walk up fans and away fans.

Have a think about it.

Using your figure would mean that only about 13,000 people renew their season tickets which is ridiculous considering their going on sale before the season ends.

You are being asked to pay for a season ticket in advance, not knowing what league it will be.......will there be 2 prices for the season ticket depending on what league..?? Did season ticket holders pay more for the PL..??

I have no idea how it works, if somebody could explain to me I am interested to know :ayatollah:

The poll is a bit misleading. Someone might renew but doesnt mean they are happy about the prices.

Ive got1 more season on the price freeze...after that I might no longer be able to afford it

No idea.

Actual attendances and how many bought a ticket are wildly different due to your pricing though aren't they. I remember a match last year against Birmingham where Annis was adamant that there were only 17,500 there as he knew someone in the club whos job it is to count bodies rough the gate... Yet the attendance showed nearly 22,000. You had £10 season tickets for kids.

I think a lot of people have had their fill of Premier League football. All ive seen here is moaning.

Think the poll should have separated those still on the price freeze, as it's a big difference in price and I'd expect most on the price freeze to renew, whilst I wouldn't be surprised if we lost a lot of those who joined afterwards, who'll have to pay considerably more!

Having said that, the season tickets still work out far cheaper proportionally, than buying individual tickets!

£100 - £150 hike is tough if you're buying one ticket. For me and the mrs its a killer.

I agree totally with you but its like alot of things that go on in the UK we moan about it but dont do anything about it. We very often slag the French of but at least they have the balls to really protest when something pisses them off.

What makes me laugh with football is the clubs expect you to pay top prices for Premiership football but if your club is relegated will they drop prices or give you a rebate, will they f**k. Also they say the Premiership is the best league in the world, well some of the games this year against the ordinary teams in the Premiership have been bog standard Championship level football. Basically its just an over rated old boys club for the rich clubs to get richer. :ayatollah:

I'm a senior and still got one season of the price freeze left, so it's a no brainier for me, but I can understand people's circumstances and concerns regarding the price hike. :ayatollah:

Not renewing. Not because of the money, but because I just don't enjoy the home games no more.

Yes renewing thanks Ridsdale for the price freeze, it was a good deal for the fans, would have renewed anyway :ayatollah:

Re: Whos renewing/not renewing their season ticket for next

Seems a big hike but the canton stand is not bad to be honest.
Im renewing today if possible, but understand peoples views of such a steep hike in prices.

£439 divided 19 games - £23.20 a game (plus small admin charge)
£329 (price freeze) divided 19 games - £17.31 a game (plus small admin charge)

If we go down to the championship then there are more games to be seen at home which means the prices will be even cheaper :ayatollah:

I haven't voted as there is no yes I will be renewing but not happy with the price increase. Saying that though I can't think of anything not just football of anyone buying anything and being happy about the price increase like the first option of this thread.
