What is scarier is that we have only one central defender. Apart from Caulker everyone else are a massive liability

zaha and bellamy can always go up top. along with berget.
can always call mason & maynard home. maybe they'll get on a good run in the champ and we can have em home anyway

Sending Maynard to Wigan on loan and then allegedly bidding for McCormack and Le Fondre was absolutely bonkers.

Is mason still here ? I know clubs were lining up a few bids for him ??

Bergets and Mason bellamy can play upfront an there's Rhys Healy who's banging them in.
So there's 6 options

Berget is more of a CAM but can play up front. Mason is going no where now, I think with us sending out Maynard etc proves Ole has faith in Mason. Mason needs to grab this opportunity now and prove himself. Bellamy isn't good enough as a striker. Healey would be a risk but maybe it'll pay off, it worked with Berhaino didn't it?

Having seen Molde play a lot, Berget has played best in the role behind the strikes. He has sometimes played a more "regular" striker, but have not impressed there as I have viewed it. On the National U21/U23-team he has allegedly had some success playing out wide too. I can't see him being an effective premier league striker at this point.
Anyway, how do you see goals coming Cardiff's way with this squad? Will Zaha and Noone and attacking wing backs feed balls to Kenwyne Jones? Will there be a 442 with Jones and Campbell on top? Will there be a 4231 with Zaha-Mutch-Noone behind the strikes?
If all players were fit, what do you rate as the best starting eleven at this point? May be a stupid question, but I am norwegian!

Fully understandable to ask questions! To be honest a 4-4-2 is a simplistic approach but it just may pay off but it's not a formation that benefits the Norweigan players by any means, with most being on the bench. I thought Berget was a striker or least a centre forward. Shame as we need goals and I don't want pressure on the boy. The only problem there is we have about three players who can play the exact same role. Jones, Noone and Zaha should start constantly. I would love to see Dæhli feature more but I'm not sure where we play him in a simplistic 4-4-2, doesn't seem a winger but can clearly play there but more a CAM?

If you can call jones a striker. Shelvey scored 4 this season for us. Jones has scored 4 pl goals in 2 and a half years. Ones a midfielder you lot laughed at us signing the other...

OGS must have alot of faith in Jo Inge Berget.....I hope he is right....we have 3 strikers that do not put the fear into the opposition...but it's up Campbell, Jones & Berget to step-up....repay OGS's faith & get the goals to keep us up

What does the f in jackf stand for? Flaps? Because you talk through yours a lot!
You bought Ngog and Emnes, both have fantastic goal scoring records in the Premier League!

Simple question. How many strikers do we use? Answer 1. Bony, michu, ngog or vasquez.
How many wingers do we start with? Answer 2. Dyer, routledge, hernandez, lammah and emnes.
The very definition of back up.

Emnes is not a winger. He's a striker. Nice try.

For me the point is that all the names mentioned above, exept the new guy Bergets, weren't considered good enough as strikers before Ole (Bellers, Smith, Mason) etc.
Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:18 am
I biggest problem since the start of the season has been lack of goals and unfortunately Jones and Berget are not going to make a great difference. Our only hope lies with the combination of both Noone and Zaha putting the fear of god up the opposition making them more wary about attacking us whilst also creating more chances for us to convert. I do fear about our lack of options however if either of these players get injured as Bellamy is not the player he was and Daelhi is probably going to need time

Berget had a fair scoring rate for his position, scoring 7 goals in 25 league matches last year and 8 goals in 28 matches the season before. Also being a crucial player to make the assists. But still don't see him as a straight center forward.
I can see a 442 being useful if Jones and Campbell are to play together, and if you have wingers to feed them. Zaha is right footed, right? And Noone is left footed? So either you want pure wingers or want the wide players drifting inwards - that looks useful?
From what I have seen from Dæhli, he looks like drifting out of position quite a lot. Than can be a defensive liability,I guess.
But I believe Solskjær to be a 4231-proponent. So I wonder if he is thinking about using Campbell and Jones together?

From what I understand Mackay and Solskjær had widely different styles they wanted Cardiff to play. Not necessarily relevant that one player didn't fit in with the other?
