You do know how the January window works? If we do sign a player late tonight, we may have made an enquiry at the beginning of the month. It could have taken weeks and weeks of negotiations for a transfer fee to be agreed. Another club could then come in with a bigger bid to gazump us, meaning we have to either increase our bid again, or back out and move on to another target and start all over again. A player we could be trying to sign right now may also be in negotiations with several other clubs over personal terms or we could be spending hours trying to sell our club to a player so he chooses to join us ahead of other clubs.
The January window is an absolute nightmare as unlike the summer, it only lasts for a month. Every club wants to keep hold of their best players as there is little time to bring in an adequate replacement, so every club is moving quicker. We can't just table a bid for a player, agree terms and sign him. It's never that simple. The January window simply doesn't work like that. Many different things can happen. If we sign a player last minute, we would have probably tried signing this player right at the beginning of the month and have taken all month to negotiate the right fee, the right terms and convince the player we are the right club for him to join.

Id rather sign no one than be mugged off again like we were for Cornelius. Remember the loan window is available.

Only for the football league. Can only sign an emergency goal keeper I think.

Well we can use Rafael if Fabio gets injured as they look the same. Thats one option.
