PANIC!! Can anyone explain why we are after the best Championship strikers when we have allowed a striker who has consistently been one of the best in the Championship over the past few seasons in Nicky Maynard go on loan to Wigan? I loved McCormack, but I honestly thought the idea of allowing Maynard to go on loan was to bring in someone BETTER!!

Can't argue with that Tonteg.

Both of them are better than Maynard. Maynard is not one of the best. He's been hit and miss for ages. Has never been the same since Bristol days imo. Even in his Bristol days his games/goals ratio got progressively worse.

Best in the Championship over the last few seasons? You've got to be kidding...
He scored just eight in 26 during his last season at Bristol City, then managed just two in 14 for West Ham in the Championship.
Once he made his move to Cardiff he started the first three games of the season, scoring none. Sure, he would have bettered that should he have avoided injury, but he hasn't been prolific since the 2009/10 season.
Le Fondre has 13 in 22 this season, and grabbed 12 in 34 when in the Premier League. Maynard isn't anywhere near that level.

According to vg.no, McCormack has debuked any speculation personally and claimed he is not going anywhere. Le Fondre however looks more plausible, and a more persistent rumour.

Le fondre is better than Maynard and has premier league goal scoring experience. No desperation in this signing but let's be realistic we are officially the worst premier league side currently. If we go down he is a great insurance on scoring plenty of goals to get us back up. Maynard was good but has spent the last three seasons injured or playing for teams that have made the leap up, but gut feeling is he is not prem league standard and nor probably is Ross.

In Maynard's 3 games for us before he got injured, he set up goals and won penalties. Like I said, Maynard has consistently been one of the best strikers in the Championship, he showed that in his first 3 games for us in the Championship before he was cruelly injured. Also, Maynard was in a Bristol City team struggling when he was with them. Maynard had injuries in his last season for Bristol City and his 14 appearances for West Ham were largely as a substitute because of Allardyce's direct style which didn't suit him. Reading comments from West Ham fans when we signed him shows how highly they thought of him. Le Fondre is a good goal scorer, but for you to say Maynard is nowhere near his level is absolutely bonkers!

Le Fondre is an interesting one, he was a super sub like Solksjaer, and would be class to have on the bench and bring on for a goal in a tight game. I bet Solkjaer could get the best out of him too. I think he had a good premier league mins to goals ratio playing for a shit team......
