City midfielder joins Rovers on two-and-a-half year deal

City can confirm that midfielder Craig Conway has joined SkyBet Championship side Blackburn Rovers on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The Scottish International arrived at Cardiff City Stadium in June 2011, going on to make 67 appearances in all competitions scoring seven goals, his contribution invaluable in helping earn promotion to the Barclays Premier League last season.

This campaign, Conway spent three months on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, making thirteen appearances and scoring one goal in the Seagulls 3-1 victory over Leicester City in December.

We wish Craig the best of luck at his new club and thank him for his time at Cardiff City Stadium.

We could have used him this season. Good luck Craig, why we are giving him away when we only have Noone, Bellamy and on loan Zaha who can play on the wings is bonkers. Cowie for me is a centre midfielder and I believe every squad should have 4 wingers for competition. Conway would have done no worse than the majority of our players this season. He's our only complete winger who can cause problems going forwards but also work back and do his defensive work. Ashley Young wouldn't have been allowed to cut in to score if Conway was tracking back instead of Noone.

Daehli is a winger as well.
We don't need five.

From what I've seen of Daehli I think he's more suited in a number 10 role. He's great on the ball but I don't think he has the pace to beat a player. I suppose you could argue Conway couldn't beat a quick full back for pace, but he could easily run at players and create half a yard to whip a cross in. Talking out and out wingers, we only have Noone and Zaha now.
