Leon Barnett - Should we have kept him?

Thu Jan 30, 2014 6:49 pm

Do you think we should have got barnett from norwich after his loan spell with us or were we right to let him go?

Seems to me like we could have done with another option for CB this season - I thoughtBarnett looked pretty sharp in the championship

Exactly,he looked sharp in the championship,as with many of our team last season the premier league is a step to far,he's at his level with Wigan in the championship

I always thought that he was going to be our first summer signing, i could never understand why he wasn't.

I could never understand why we signed Lappin either.

Craig Noone looked sharp in the champ - they are doing good in the prem!

I get what you're saying but I think he would have been more solid than turner or hudson

We had 3good players at centreback...........hudson turner and connolly. Malky obviously wanted a better one to join them (caulker) so its a no from me

Couldn't stand Connelly I thought he was awful

Yeah we got the three - but Barnett was going on a free and I doubt his wages would be huge - I recon he would have been an option this season

I said No, thought we would have got a few CB's in.

I think Championship is level hence why Norwich got rid, although looking at our squad would of been good to have him as back up.

i like him to be fair, consistent, hard to beat, filled in at fullback well and chipped in with goals.

Good post. I remember when he joined, he just fitted right in like he'd been with us for years and he made an immediate impact. Solid and also nodded a few in too. I thought he should have been part of our Championship winning celebrations and got his medal, such was his attitude and contribution. To me, he struck me as wanting to be around for all the right reasons and I was disappointed when for whatever reason, he was not signed on a perm. Much respect and would love to see him back. :ayatollah:

Yeah man - I was gutted he didn't get a league winners medal - he was a critical factor in our final promotion push.

Put a bet on him for any time goal scorer his first game for Wigan - came in as well haha :malky:
