"A call to Arms"

Thu Jan 30, 2014 1:24 pm

I know we are I'm trouble but we have a month of fixtures that could move us into the safety zone and get the players feeling confidence and belief.

I was at Cambridge Away when we drew 0-0 with 8 men and saved a penalty.

I (and I'm no superfan nor do I hate new fans) was at Bury when we lost on a rainy Tuesday night when our mascot had a ruck.

I was there when we lost to Orient and Stilton was in goals. After the game their fans asked why we sand and celebrated for the full 90 despite losing. We are Cardiff. That's why.

I was there when we lost in the FAQ Cup final after flying for 24 hours to get there. I was proud as punch.

I was there at Sheffield United when the coppers fucked us over and we lost.

I was there when we drew with York away to go up and Leo scored 3!

We were shit. BUT you wouldn't have guessed it by our fans on all of those occasions.

I was there when we were 4-1 down in the league Cup against Plymouth and we won 5-4.

I was there when we lost to Shrewsbury away and it went mad.

It had nothing to do with me. It was us. No matter what happened we were the loudest and most intimidating fans in the league.

Now, we are a few points from mid table and signing names I'd never dream of and we are mostly f*cking miserable and negative.

I'm not a better supporter because I was there. I just believe we should be better supporters because we are here.

I don't know about you but I am f*cking Cardiff City and the way I was brought up by my dad, my mates and our football failures, I will never give up.

I genuinely don't mean to be patronising but stand up and be counted.

Be heard. By the team. That will urge us to safety.

Bluebirds.

What a f*cking post! I was there back in the old Division 4 says and it's sad to see the fans have deteriorated over the years, not in numbers, but in passion! Time for us all to stand up and be counted starting from Saturday. let's bring the old Ninian Park atmosphere back as the team now needs us more than ever!

We are still here. I think us old timers are just a bit starstruck. I know I am.

I ccan't believe a f*cking Brazilian young international has signed for us.

I used to get excited when someone like Thompson signed for us.

NOT because I had heard of him but because I'd heard of the club he signed from. QPR!

Thanks for scoring the winner against those Jack c@nts though Tommo.

Fair play, that post has got me up for the game. You're spot on. These are the games we should create the noise and get behind the team. I've been fed up lately but I think it's due to all the negative shit I keep reading. Rumours and people trying to be ITK are ruining the experience. If I had the money I'd only do away games due to the atmosphere we create. We need to get the stadium rocking but I think a lot of people have lost the love. Don't care if we stay up or not but we must put up a fight and that includes us fans.

Remember in the fourth division who we were mid table?

We wouldn't stop going nuts even when it got to the stage when promotion wasn't mathematically possible.

Ha ha. I wish I was a teenager watching this shit. I'd be going g f*cking mental.

Let's go f*cking mental.....

Great post - somewhat of a newbie only been a ST for 4.5 years now but do not know what I would do w/o my dose of CCFC every week.

Someone who knows Ali should tell him play MoH then "Hey Jude" to get the crowd going and then its up to us.

I am in the Family section of the Grandstand and try my best, just wish others there would as well.

We NEED to get behind the boys...................so make some noise FFS

Cheers mate. This is our chance. Let's not roll over and accept relegation when there is more shit, just a few points ahead of us, than in a London sewer.

Ah that Cambridge game was amazing!! I was on crutches, went nuts at the end and almost fell on to the pitch as the players came over to celebrate. Ah the good old days :ayatollah:

Re: "A call to Arms"

Good post.
I was at most of the games. I remember some York fans calling us a 1 man team when Leo got the hat trick. How little they knew! I was also amoung the famous few at Doncaster one cold rainy night.
Over the years I sat in the canton stand when it had benches, stood on the the bob bank and on the Grange end.
Never got into the old grand stand which was only a part of the length of the pitch ( too expensive ) or the old enclosure.
Ovet the last decade I sat in the directors box at Ninian Park and now sit in the Premier Lounge.
My wife and I shout at all matches and are really enjoying this season, the highlight so far being our weekend in Liverpool and singing for 120 minutes at Anfield.
The game plus 30 minutes after the final whistle
We are now with the elite teams and although I enjoyed the pie and chips at Scarboro many years ago and fishing out the ball at Shrewsbury I would not swop where we are now for those days.
4 visits to Wembley and a possible 5th this year.
Enjoy the ride.

That's one hell of a post Fergy and I feel exactly the same

I am a season ticket holder but I don't post much on here but after reading Fergy's post I felt I had to add my two pennorthworth in support. I have been a City fan from the first game I ever saw back in the 70's as a 16 year old (we lost 0-1 at home to Norwich - Don Murray our centre half handled a certain goal on the line) and am still a diehard today approaching my 60th birthday. I suffered the years in the 70s when we were knocking on the door of the old First division until we sold John Toshack to Liverpool when top of the league with only 8 games to play and lost out on promotion finishing 3rd an then started the long decline which really only started to turn around from the time Rick Wright owned the club and as continued up to the present day.

I have had two dreams in my football supporter's life - to see my beloved Cardiff in the top echelon of football and Wales to qualify for the world cup. After 45 years I have finally seen one of those dreams come true. I don't give a f##k whether we got there in blue, red or pink polkadots - it is my team - my Cardiff and I'll be f##**ked if I won't scream my head off every game from now until the end of the season to drive the boys on - my Cardiff - to keep the dream going. I don't want to listen to the doom mongers on here calling themselves City fans or any of the piss taking drivel posted on here by Jacks who ought to be more concerned with posting on their own forum about the obvious splits and other troubles at the Liberty - they ought to realise that their downfall is only just around the corner. We are good enough - we must believe in our guts that the boys can do it - because they won't without us - the supporters - screaming them on and intimidating every English (and one Welsh!) side that we play from here on in - believe the boys can do it - Men of Harlech mentality!!! Thanks for reading an old man's rantings but the time has come to stand up and be counted :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

problem is not enough backbone when we've got our backs against the wall.
We need to stick together and embrace it!

Great posts; first Fergies and then Blemmys. I was at most of those games too and those experiences were what got me hooked on this great club of ours - it got under my skin and in my heart and no change of colour, badge or owners will ever change that. How could anyone who has felt like that can walk away is beyond me - this is the time to rise up and stick together, all fans both new and old. Us Oldies need to show the passion so that the newer fans can begin to understand the love and obsession - what it means to be part of the Blue Army.

Annis, superb write up...you should consider writing a book !!! I spent lots of wet Saturdays at the brilliant Ninian Park watching us lose and longed for the "good days". Maybe those were good days when you look back. I can remember watching a Cardiff v Gillingham match with the great Tony Cascarino playing and you could sit wherever you wanted because the Grandstand was empty, and when you shouted at Alan Durban he could hear every word !! "Sit down Durban...we'll tell them what to do, we paid to get in !!" Cardiff fans have been and always will be the best. You are right no negativity just get behind the boys and enjoy it.

Nail on the head. Society is just soulless and passionless. People just want to rinse everyone else of cash, theres no belonging, people rarely know their neighbours these days, everyone is out for themselves.

Even when things go bad society doesn't unite. We don't stand up together and fight against politicians - a lot don't even vote. A lot just don't even care or make excuses as its an easier option than doing something.

Its the whole of society - a commercial and materialistic money focused wet dream which perfectly aids those who've prospered from capitalism but those who haven't get penalised.

British society is fractured and theres no harmony at all at that level. Football is a sect of society so its going to face the same issues as well. Common sense out of the window and it has now been replaced by legal cases and compensation because money is the only valued asset for many.

Britain is a materialistic and consumerist cesspit to be honest and the 'must have' and 'I need' culture thats been bred is a disgrace and is going to cause more issues in the long term. The culture of today is predominantly selfish and yes of course you will find good people who will do anything for anyone but there is most definitely a me, me, me culture out there.
