' Championship sides slug it out for Joe Mason '

Thu Jan 30, 2014 12:33 pm

Thursday 30/01/2014.

Joe Mason, 22, has been the talk of much speculation over the past month and with deadline day soon approaching it appears interest in the player is as high as ever.

The former Plymouth man played an integral part in the Cardiff City side that won promotion last season, scoring six goals in 29 appearances for the club and putting many fine performances in along the way.

The season before, however, he was used a lot more, scoring 12 goals in 46 games.

He has not been used by Cardiff this season in the Premier League, making three cup appearances, and was loaned to Bolton at the end of last year where he made eight appearances.

Bolton Wanderers, Brighton, Sheffield Wednesday and Bournemouth could all use extra goals in their side, with all of them sat at mid-table, or below on the goalscoring chart.

Bournemouth have scored the 12th most goals in the Championship with 34, Wednesday have scored 33, Bolton 32 and Brighton just 30.

Wednesday boss Stuart Gray will be desperate to bring in a striker in the next 35 hours as fan favourite and top goalscorer Connor Wickham has been recalled by parent club Sunderland in the last week, with no indication he will be allowed to leave once again.

Bolton have just signed Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz on loan for the rest of the season and Brighton are still waiting on the fitness of impressive Argentinian Leonardo Ulloa, although a replacement for Barnes is expected.

And Bournemouth, who have been the most active in the Mason race could look to make one last ditch attempt on the youngster but that remains to be seen.

Who will win the race to Cardiff City striker Joe Mason?

We will be stupid to sell him, loan him out if anything.

Cash in on him now. Certainly not a Premier League player at the mo and not an out and out 'prolific goal scorer'.

Hope he goes to Wednesday on a loan.

We can't sell our fringe players. If we go down we will need them next season.

Well has he even played in the premier league this season? Only one way to find out if he's got enough and that's to test him.

Some players excel at higher levels. Look at David Marshall, he's been immense this season. Know-one would have thought he'd perform to this consistent standard last year, including myself. Mason is a good player, makes good runs and is a clever player. In the premier league, those attributes are good qualities to have, so why not test him? What have we got to lose?

he wont get no were near this squad at the moment.. if we werent going to sell him then loan him out were in a dog fight in relegation and dont think ole will risk testing him he gave him a chance against bolton and even tho its only one game he hardly touched the ball.. loan him out access where we are next season if we stay up wel be going to bigger better players again

Think we've given up on Mason as we seem to be getting David Rodríguez Sánchez from Celta de Vigo.

The Celtic last departures on the winter side and front Bellvís Carlos David Rodriguez. Both players trained today no longer with peers in Madroa.

Bellvís play if everything goes in the Ponferradina on loan as David will do in Brighton in the English Championship.

With its outputs Celta releases two chips to address the incorporation of forward looking in the market. It is tomorrow at twelve hours to find it
