' CITY TURN DOWN OFFER FOR STAR/PLUS '

Wed Jan 29, 2014 6:03 pm

The deal to take Cornelius back to Copenhagen is expected to cost City up to £10m in losses. Cornelius will receive 70% of one year of his contract as settlement which equates to just over £1.6m in wages, his signing on fee will be honoured even though it is received in four equal payment over the course of his contract and a £5m hit on the transfer fee.

City have turned down a undisclosed offer from Bolton to sign Kevin McNaughton.

Bolton are expecting though to announce the loan signing of Joe Mason until the end of the season.

The deal to sign Fabio is complete and the Zaha deal is 'virtually done', it looks like the club are waiting to finalise the Zaha deal before making a double announcement.

Ole is confident of bringing in a centre half and a striker before Fridays deadline, both of whom Ole says will be ready to step straight into the first team.

...that can step into the first team, well to make strikers work and to get them scoring goals, you need to put the ball in the right places!

Sadly that has been lacking, so bring in suarez and aguero and they won't score unless you feed them!

So a 10 mil loss altogether, with some over a 5 year period. Even tho that's a big hit atleast it is not 22 mil+. If you think about it southampton spent 15 odd mil on osvaldo and 12 million on gaston and they have done fucall really.

How much did Norwich spend on Ricky van Wolfswinkel aswell?

I literally cannot believe the Cornelius situation. Surely we should keep him on the books rather than sell for such a loss. I know he hasn't really impressed, but he is young, just a kid really and should be nurtured into the player we hope he can be.

Can't we loan him back instead ? :(

Hopefully now we have people in place upstairs to put on clauses in his contract such as a percentage of next transfer fee, if he's transferred to another club etc!

And risk losing over 12 mil more? And not being able to buy a good striker, no.

Keep hoping. He's crap.

Terrible idea to keep him on the books as he'll cost us over £22m then.

£11.7m over 5 years in wages
£8m in transfer fee
£2.5 in signing on and bonuses etc.

Thats a terrible idea. Id rather take the £10m hit and get rid and then let that £12m be spent on a player who is worthwhile to us. We could sign Finnbogason for not much more than that or Rhodes. Both are better than Cornelius.

Thing is mate our staff and ole have obviously seen enough of him to make the judgement that he isn't going to improve into the player we all thought he might. Easy to say from the outside but sometimes you just have to cut your losses. 45 grand a week for a player in the dvp. Squad just isn't right lol

Deadline day is tomorrow Carl, is he confident he can get both players finalised by then?

Re: CITY TURN DOWN OFFER FOR STAR

People are exaggerating the fee, they always include appearances, caps etc it will be well less tha £8M.......

Still will be a waste ,but more like £3 to £4m....

Do you know why City are selling Cornelius rather than offering him on loan Carl?

I know that OGS was one of the first to recognise Cornelius as an up and coming talent - has he changed his mind on this?

Malky & Moody scouted the player - who signed off the contract & transfer fee?

Every manager makes poor signings - but its been made pretty clear that Malky didnt hold the purse strings

I doubt he'd have confirmed that Zaha was coming to us on MUTV if that was the case.

Who signed off the transfer fee  you serious? Tan knows nothing about footy and scouting players, so he would of needed to take MM & Moody's word that he was gd. Like Tan said, he sent malky to by a Porsche, he come back with a Toyota :thumbright:
