Our Home Atmosphere and Relegation

Wed Jan 29, 2014 3:20 pm

After experiencing the last 4 league away trips to Man City, Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool, one thing struck me - the really bad home atmosphere created by the top teams with very large home attendances compared to our paltry 28,000.

To be honest, I cannot see why our home supporters criticise our atmosphere at home now that all stadiums in the premiership are now all seater.

I think I heard Man United sing about 4 times and that was briefly and only when they scored their goals.
If we stopped singing last night, you couldn't hear a Pin drop!!

I know the atmosphere can be a lot better at home games but considering our 28000 crowds then I honestly think we come out of this well, and its about time we pick up our atmosphere again and cheer on our players for the remaining games of the season, it will will a massive boost to our players and hopefully getting many 3 points until the end of the season.

Our season starts on Saturday so make your voice heard.... :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

To be fair, I watched the game on the stream and the United fans were loud throughout the game, which isn't common.

Our ground is like Galatasaray compared to most club's atmospheres. Arsenal was the worst of the lot. Man City probably the best.

Same happens with us, we may think we're loud in the Canton Stand at times but the away end can never hear us down the other end

I watched it on a stream in a pub and couldn't hear them sing fk all...... If it wasn't for City fans there would be no noise at all.

We need to do this, and can do this. We can make 28,000 at home be our 12th man and it needs to start now!!

As much as I want to say the same as you lot, the United fans came across as loud and consistent on the stream I watched, Cardiff fans were loud as well

Spot On Jon, I was surprised by them. They were noisy.

nah, didn't hear a peep from utd fans on the stream, coupled with people saying the same who travelled, no reason to doubt.

Since when did Old Trafford become this cauldren of noise..?? Old Trafford isn't going to erupt for the visit of the bottom of the table bluebirds

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the stream mate, they're usually very quiet at Old Trafford, but the Stretford End was very loud from listening on the stream. The Cardiff fans were also very loud and a lot of the time they were singing whilst you lot were singing, so you probably didn't notice them as much.

I went to OT once in Oct 1981 for a league cup game against Spurs when I happened to be working in the area. We stood in the lower part of the Stretford end which held about 20,000 standing. That was an atmosphere, believe me there were no prawn sandwiches.

Must have watched a different stream, as the one I watched all I could hear was Cardiff apart from after one of their goals.

I was up at OT and they were shocking, it was only us singing, maybe once or twice they sung that was it.

I once went to Old Trafford on a Tuesday night with a few Boro boys in the away end.

The Stratford End was quiet as f**k.

Boro won and Job scored the winner egged on by the Boro fans.

Chant of the night:"there's only one Job on Teeside"

That's up there with the TITS and OLDHAM (hold them) chant.
