' 11 winnable games '

Norwich H
Swansea A
Villa H
Hull H

Spurs A
Fulham H
Everton A
Liverpool H

WBA A

Palace H
Southampton A
Stoke H
Sunderland A

Newcastle H

Chelsea A

The games in green are games we can and should be competing to win in. The others we may pick points up in which will of course help but we won't be expected to do so. That's 33 points up for grabs and we need 2/3rd's (22pts) to hit the 40 mark.

February and April are the key months. These months are full of winnable games. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Isn't it Newcastle away and chelsea home? Makes the newcastle game more red than green imo

Also the saints away is a really tough one

We won't get 18 points from that lot, OGS isn't the right man to keep us up.

Re: 11 winnable games

7 points in Feb and Apr and trying to pick up another 7 points from Mar and May would give us 39 points. It's going to be tough considering we only got 5 points out of Stoke A, Palace A, West Brom H, Southampton H, Sunderland H and West Ham H (our green games since beginning of December). If we repeat that sort of return we will be lucky to get to 32 or 33 points.

Completely agree, we have the worst over and done with apart from Chelsea and Liverpool . Even the most cynical will be looking at these fixtures in optimism :ayatollah:

I have been saying this for months, Jan was always going to be hard then it gets easier again, Hull had an easier start, we will now see what they are made of.....

We beat WBA and Swansea home, let's not be selective, West Ham at home we had a bit of bad luck and a bit of an off day, Sunderland was the worst, 2 points thrown away....

15 games left and need to win a mimimum 6 games starting sat. If we dont win sat we r down.

But if we had played this new style against stoke and palace I believe we would have won. All the shite surrounding tan and malky possibly lost us the saints and 2 pts v Sunderland. We all know on another day we would have hammered west ham and also if we had played united a week earlier we could have taken something from that aswel.

With the way we are playing and the fixtures we got left I believe we can get enough points to stay up. Some massive games starting sat so lets get behind them.

Re: 11 winnable games

Wed Jan 29, 2014 8:54 am

It's achievable , I might be wrong but didn't we get 17 points from 17 games under Malky and on paper those 17 games were tougher than the fixtures we have remaining , plus we have a lot more options to choose from due to new signings .

Most of the nailed on "unwinnables" have gone now. Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd have all been played twice. Chelski we have home but not till the end. I think we have a slightly less hard run in that others. 9 of those games are home too. Have faith!

Re: ' 11 winnable games '

Good post - exactly what I have been saying for some time.

Did people think we would get any points at MU/MC - I doubt it.............I think OGS will start to use his purchases from Norwich onwards to make a difference that will see us stay up.

We have those winnable games as highlighted and the other 11 teams in the relegation battle still have to play the likes of MC/MU/Arsenal etc.

As Gloria Gaynor once said "We (I) will Survive" - just believe

Re: ' 11 winnable games '

I think most people here have quite unrealistic expectations considering what Cardiff "should" achieve in the remaining PL games. I think it's fair to say that it will be a great achievement if they/we aren't relegated. :!:

And I've said it before: Taken into consideration that a manager change mid-season only diminishes the possibility of staying up, imo the Cardiff squad needed to be good enough before the january window to have a fighting chance. The new manager can change things up and buy qualilty, but it depends more on how he can get the atmosphere and belief a positive flow.

I hardly think Jones, Zaha, Fabio, Eikrem, Daelhi, Berget or any other new player can make a huge, instant impact. At least not that deciding difference. Players like Bellamy, Noone, Campbell, Whittingham, Hudson, Marshall, etc, need to step up and fight like f'ing champions. Sure hope they do.

I just hope Cardiff can average close enough to 2 points per home game, and take a few away points as a bonus. If that, there should be a possiblity for a safe spot (or playoff). :ugeek:

This is my prediction:

Norwich H - W
Swansea A - D
Villa H - L
Hull H - W

Spurs A - L
Fulham H - W
Everton A - L
Liverpool H - D
WBA A - L

Palace H - D
Southampton A - L
Stoke H - W
Sunderland A - W

Newcastle A - L
Chelsea H - L

That'll give 36 points in the end. Hopefully it will be enough. Really hope Sunderland, Fulham and Swansea (OC) fall on their asses. :ayatollah:

I've done the predictor a couple of times now, and even being a little pessimistic we don't go down. The teams around us have a far worse run to ours, they will obviously be targeting us when we play them, but with the new signings and having watched us last night, I think we can do it.
Hopefully the jacks will do us a couple of favours against stoke and West ham over the next few weeks too. They will need to do well against Stoke after losing to us the previous week

Re: ' 11 winnable games '

I think Everton away is winnable. That is, if their past 4 performances are a sign of regressive form. Because they have been dire lately.

well February is a big month, i want at least 7 points

Re: ' 11 winnable games '

They are winnable and I do think we are going to stay up but hand onto your wigs cos it's gonna be a rollercoaster. For me at least 8pts in Feb is what we should be looking at . We need to beat Norwich & Hull. I'd take a draw at the Jacks but think we have a great chance and a win or draw should be the case against Villa.

If we'd managed to keep up the 4/9 points ratio throughout, so about 45%, then we'd have 50 by the end of the season, would have been nice I guess! :P However, as you said Drebin, the next couple of home games could be winnable, considering how well and controlling we've played against United and City. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Quite excited for the Norwich game, first time I think anyone's said that ;)

Think we will get 14pts from remaining games, any more will be a bonus. Did think we would struggle to get over 30pts before the season started.

Until it is out of our hands I will keep believing. :ayatollah:

Just for arguments sake. I did a predictor and this is what I came up with

P GD PTS
1 Man City 38 65 88
2 Arsenal 38 44 88
3 Chelsea 38 43 87
4 Liverpool 38 47 79
5 Tottenham 38 10 76
6 Man Utd 38 18 63
7 Everton 38 10 59
8 Newcastle 38 7 58
9 Southampton 38 5 54
10 Hull City 38 0 53
11 Norwich 38 -29 40
12 Swansea 38 -10 39
13 Cardiff 38 -24 38
14 Aston Villa 38 -13 37
15 Stoke 38 -25 37
16 West Brom 38 -16 33
17 West Ham 38 -24 32
18 Fulham 38 -47 31
19 Sunderland 38 -29 30
20 C Palace 38 -32 29

We have a very good chance to stay up as we have played most of the 'BIG 5' twice already

Re: ' 11 winnable games '

I was bored at work, so i compiled my own prediction list for the teams at the bottom. I tried to be as fair as i could, and in my mind, it's good news!

13. Cardiff 36pts
14. Norwich 35pts
15. Sunderland 33pts
16. Stoke 31pts
17. Fulham 31pts
-------------------------------
18. Hull 30pts
19. C. Palace 30pts
20. West Ham 28pts

The lowest ever amounts of points, and still survived. Congratulations Fulham!

I'm glad we have our run in, and not West Ham's or Palace's!
