Gunnarsson's Long Throw

Tue Jan 28, 2014 1:27 pm

After his shoulder injury it was rumoured that he should knock the long throws on the head although I can't remember there being any confiomation of it at the time.

Does anyone know if he's ever going to be "doing a Leggy" any time soon; becuase to be honest on current form that the only reason I have him in the team.

He can't do it any more as he will risk dislocating the arm again. Pitty as it would have been really f'n useful this season.

Thought there was mention of him not doing it for six months after recovery, but I may be wrong.

Either way, we scored just one direct goal from one of his long throws - and that was Rudy.

I'm sure Campbell got one too. Plus we won a tonne of corners off them.

Campbell V Bristol was from a long throw, corners we got V Liverpool getting Turner's goal started when we were getting throwing he was taking.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he was going to stop doing them for about a year and see where he is after that

I don't event think it's the "scoring direct from them" that's important. But in the PL when Delap was bunging them in a awful lot of top flight defender hadn't come across them before and had trouble judging the flight and angle of them. It's a really great weapon and almost turns every throw in into a free kick.

KTC has a dabble now and again but I do love a long thrown. Probably just reminds me of simpler times when Leggy used to bung em in from almost the half way line looking for Leo to bump one in with his ass or the back of his head.

exactly they're a nuisance. teams practice defending against corners and free kicks every day and not so much throw ins.

I've been thinking the last few days of posting the same! since the talk of Kenwyn really, I'm sure being able to put it in the mixer during the last 10 mins of games during the run in could prove pivotal, I'm sure we will see it at some point before the end of the season, doesn't Fabio have a throw on him? If not surely Gunnar can train somebody else up a bit quick :D
