Alright then Boyo's. Stoke fan in peace. Just wanted to give a word that I'm sure you're all well aware of.

I've said similar to a Cardiff fan on a board I frequent (http://eighteensixtythree.proboards.com/).Don't expect much from this guy. In fact, don't expect anything. He's the most frustratingly idle player I've seen at Stoke for many years. This myth about him being unplayable on his day is just that. You'll perhaps see that day once every few years and even then, he's just decent. His disrespect for us seemed to come from him thinking he's destined for bigger things after he scored a hat trick against Championship opposition. If you get 3-4 games out of him, you'll be pretty lucky as once he's comfortable, he'll soon revert to his bone idleness. He did it for us, he did it for Sunderland (who gave us he same warning as this) and he had the same strike at Southampton. Also for a fairly well built footballer, pissweak, lighttweight lad I've seen.

On one hand you could do much better. On the other hand, you could do much worse. Signing a player of Jones' 'calibre' in your first season up (along with Fabio and Zaha) isn't too shabby at all. On our end, I can't say I've heard enough about Odemwingie this season but I'm aware he's not pulled up any trees for you. But at the end of the day, Jones was never going to play for Stoke, so to have a back up player against a backup player that would never play is a bonus.

Last thing. Please don't oust Vincent Tan. He's an absolute f*cking diamond!

I'd say all the best for the season but some of us are still bitter about Kav and Sir Peter of Throne ;)

No worries we are used to frustrating players with bags of talent. It only takes a few goals and us to move up the slippery slope and he'll be fine for the rest of the season.

he can have a word with Nathan Blake - he was a lazy infuriating git but then pulled off something magical and you just forget about the weaknesses!

As for Odem - oh dear what was Mark Hughes thinking of! :D :old:

Odemwingie been garbage, personally would have driven him to Stoke myself for free.
Jones is an added bonus in the transfer. Hopefully add us a bit of strength up top to hold the ball up and bring our midfield into play, something we have badly missed. Obvsiously brings a huge lot of experiance aswell which should rub off on Cornelius and help develop him for a season or 2.
Expect Odemwingie to try a load of tricks that dont usually come off and live offside due to not having the pace he used to have

Re: Kenwyne Jones

To be honest mrred you want to worry more about having odemwingie who is without doubt one of the worst signings in recent years ,done nothing all he seemed to do was get offside ,overplay the ball when he had it or give away free kicks or possesion, total waste of time and money and i'm glad he's gone ..if jones gives us a few good performances till the end of the season ill be fine with that as im sure OGS will change plenty in the summer ....good luck watching him odemwingie !!!!!!

Odemwingie was great at first. Tailed off since Noones gone all Ronaldo.

Odemwingie has lost what made him good his pace. Now all he does is get caught offside. Jones will suit us better than odemwingie now that ole clearly likes to play with pact wingers. I personally think Jones will do a decent job for us.

Finally welcome to the forum always nice to hear other fans views. :ayatollah:

Re: Kenwyne Jones

Thanks for the welcome, appreciated. I don't think the level headed fans in our contingent are that arsed about Odemwingie as he'll be the last line of back up on the bench (probably) and I think he'll be there to fill the Pennant shaped void rather than a striker role, or maybe sit behind the front man. It seems as though we've had problems trying to get players in elsewhere and they've decided at the last minute they didn't want to come to Stoke.

I think you guys will steer clear of safety by the end of the season. For however much a fruitcake Tan is, he seem to have steadied some quite epic mishaps.

Thanks for your feed back, most of us are aware that jones comes with baggage but to be honest i would have taken bridget jones in return for getting rid of odemwingie, if you think jones doesn't put a full shift in then wait until you see what we've just dumped on your lap  by the way, somebody up there should read odemwingie the off side rules because he seems to have forgotten them.

I thought Odemwinge was a good signing when we got him - good Premier League pedigree and all that. Unfortunately, he just hasn't performed for us at all. I didn't expect him to be automatic first choice, but I expected more than we got. It sounds like Jones has also been an underachiever of late, so it seems a fair swap, especially as our expensive Dane looks not to be of Premier class yet. If we get half a dozen goals out of him this season, he may keep us up, and if we get relegated he should do well in the championship next year.

I may be proved wrong, but I can't help thinking that we have got the better end of this deal. time will tell if I am proved right.
