I'm taking the missis there Thursday for 3 nights to watch Michael buble

Christmas present. After I watch that shower of shit, any recommendations on things to do and see. Can't watch any football because it's Sunday and we are coming home gutted

I'm going there with my mates from work (6 of us) to go see real vs elche at the end of feb. We have been doing some research on our area via street view on google maps and we are bang right next to some gay leather fetish bar and the "women of the night from Eastern Europe" should be good! Haha!
I'm going to guess you are going to go see a complete different side to madrid to myself though. I can not wait to see the nightlife, suppose to be awesome.

Cheers both. Think I'm staying in the centre but it will be a sightseeing weekend for me

nightlife is supposed to be awesome though

Go to the Art galleries, they are really special galleries....there is also a beautiful park close to the city centre near the Art Gallery. It's really relaxing there.

Went there last August. Missed Bale's unveiling by exactly a week. Do the stadium tour. Wife and mates wife hate football but really enjoyed the tour, plenty of history and interesting etc etc. Own metro/tube stop right outside the bernabeu so easy to get to. As other posters have said, plenty of tapas bars, restaurants everywhere... Enjoy!!!

My daughter and her family have been living there for 5 years and I go there regularly, it is a fantastic city, avoid the tourist hot spots as the prices for food and drink are very expensive, visit the Plaza Mayor but don't eat or drink there, the Real Madrid stadium tour and museum is good, also the Plaza de Toros and Museo Taurino, the Palacios Real is very impressive and worth a visit.
The Asadors (restaurants) are very good for meat dishes cooked in clay ovens, and tapas is very good and a fabulous way of eating in Madrid with a tremendous choice of reasonably priced restaurants.

The Royal Palace and the Prado Museum are both worth a visit and for eating try Botin, the oldest restaurant in the world (near the Plaza Mayor), otherwise follow the crowd near there (near Botin) and have a sherry and tapas dish in each Tapas Bar. Each bar will have a particular tapas dish that they are renowned for, but also sell other dishes. There was a queue at Botin when I went there, so I asked if I could look at he wine list at the door, then asked if I could have a bottle of Rioja Alta 904 to drink at the bar. I had a table within 15 minutes, plus a free portion of Jamon Iberico, whereas the queue was 2 hours. The wine was about £38 per bottle and it will cost that and more in most wine shops in the UK and double/treble in a restaurant.
