' Kenwyne Jones and Peter Odemwingie start new careers '

Mark Hughes has captured Cardiff City striker Peter Odemwingie, with Stoke City forward Kenwyne Jones moving in the other direction in a straight swap deal.
Odemwingie’s signing is subject to a medical, while Hughes, the Stoke manager, has agreed to bring to an end Jones’s frustrating 18 months at the Britannia Stadium.

Odemwingie is understood to have taken careful measures to ensure he avoided any embarrassing headlines similar to those of last January, when he drove down to Queens Park Rangers after believing that West Bromwich Albion, his club at the time, had given him permission.
The Nigerian international made certain he had official permission from Cardiff club staff on his mobile phone before entering Stoke’s Clayton Wood training ground on Friday.
The 32-year-old is now expected to complete the formalities of his move in the next 48 hours, leaving Cardiff after making just 13 starts.
Cardiff have taken a £500,000 hit on Odemwingie, who was signed on deadline day, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take Jones in exchange.

Jones has endured a difficult period at Stoke and stunned Hughes a fortnight ago when he failed to report for the game against Liverpool. An £8 million signing from Sunderland, the Trinidadian had only six months remaining on his contract but will now attempt to revive his career in South Wales

We are getting a better player in so its an instant win, plus Jones would probably be worth around 3-5 mill.

Hughes has moved to recruit controversial Nigeria forward Odemwingie to add to his attacking options, with Trinidad and Tobago forward Jones going in the opposite direction.

Following Sunday's 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round loss at Chelsea, Hughes said: "It should go through tomorrow and will be concluded then.

"We're pleased to get Peter in. He's a good Premiership player with experience at this level, a goal in him and a bit of pace - which we need to add to the squad.

"(I'm) Pleased to add him."
