' City bid for Scocco '

Sat Jan 25, 2014 11:26 pm

Saturday 25th Jan 2014.

Ignacio Scocco's father has confirmed that Cardiff City have joined Sunderland in the bidding for the Argentine international striker.

Ignacio Scocco's father says Cardiff City have joined Sunderland in the bidding for the Argentine international striker.

Scocco has been a long-term target for Sunderland, and they wanted him before his summer switch to Internacional.

The 28-year-old international is now looking to leave Brazil, and his father says he does have the two offers in the Premier League.

Hector Scocco told Radio Gaucha: "It's not that Scocco doesn't like Brazilian football, his problem is that he didn't have motivation to keep playing for Internacional, nothing else.

"The problem is with Internacional, not with the Brazilian clubs."

On the Premier League interest he confirmed: "The latest news I have is what we all know, there were offers from England, from Sunderland and Cardiff City."

Is it a bid or someone drumming up interest? Don't see where he adds to what we've got?

He's a full Argentinian international, he's got electric pace, can play left, right or through the middle and scores superb goals :ayatollah:

I suppose he'd replace Mutch or Noone

Could be his dad just trying to wheel some clubs in and get some offers. But the rumour has been about a fair while now.

May just be getting his name into the lime light.

Who knows, ole has signed the best of what he knows like a good manager would so let's see what else he can bring in.

We're going to need all the fire power we can muster during the run in. Assuming we get Zaha that leaves us with him and Noone as out and out wingers with genuine pace and trickery to beat Premiership defenders. Scocco will add to that and can also play as a second striker. We're going to pick up injuries and players will suffer a loss of form. The boy looks quality and I think he would be a huge boost for us. :ayatollah:

Were we not linked in the summer with this kid?

Personally I think it's just agents name dropping clubs to stir the pot.

He's only got Messi, Aguero, Lavezzi, Di Maria and Pastore ahead of him - he must be shit to have not ousted any of those more than once :notworthy:

Played one game and scored 2 against Brazil. Just goes to show how hard it is to get in the Argentinian side compared to Bothroyd in the England side
