Its true though my mate Warren failed at Cardiff City and it turned out a disaster for him, DJ rang him up and asked him to come to Cardiff without ever seeing him play.

Majority, if not all of them signed by Dave Jones. Say's it all. :(

Cornelius hasn't flopped yet though. He still has time to develop.

Be fair to the guy, if there was a list of Cardiff's greatest ever signings then a large majority would also be DJ's too.

Marshall
Whittingham
McNaughton
Chopra
McCormack
Bothroyd
Loovens
Johnson

Every club signs a flop every now and again, it just happens and it's a part of football.

You only have to to look at Sir Alex 'can't do no wrong' Ferguson. He signed Djemba Djemba and Anderson to name just two off the top of my head.

The art is to keep them to a minimum and try not make it that one of them are your flagship signings. Though even Fergie did this signing Juan Sebastian Veron for some £30m and he turned out pants for them despite coming with a big reputation and so did Diego Forlan although I can't remember his transfer fee, but I think it was some what less.

I'm sure I could come up with loads of examples if I sat around thinking about it for a while.

I didn't see Basil Fawlty, old Jörn Schwinkendorf in there anywhere he certainly deserves an honourable mention in any list of this nature.

How can you be a flop at 20 years old with just seven appearances - none of which have lasted 90 minutes - after a lengthy injury?

Fergie said in his book Veron was technically one of the best footballers he worked with he just couldnt fit him into his system.

They recouped the money by selling him to Chelsea so hardly a flop.

That just sums up DJ never new that. I don't think feeney had a decent chance. But what was DJ thinking!?

I think it's fair to say it all certainly didn't go to plan for Fergie with Veron, but I never said he wasn't any good, he was actually a decent player over the most of his career. He was just pants for United.

I wasn't Dave jones biggest fan but we might not be were we are now without his contribution. He signed flops like mulryne, Darlington, ferreti in his 1st season but he also signed koumas, loovens and gave Jerome his chance after having to sell kav, gabbs, earnie. Every manager makes a few dodgy signings but we still need to get behind them.

There is no "might" about it mate. DJ took us to another level. Ridsdale too if we are honest.
