How good is the Norwegian league?

Fri Jan 24, 2014 6:57 pm

Berget poor signing for me on paper, but then again I said Cornielus looked decent. Fact of the matter is we have signed three Norwegian players, will this cause divisions in the camp? No problems with managers signing player they have worked with in the past but that doesn't mean they are good enough.

Berget is 23 years old yet only has four caps for his country a team that Wales put four goals past only two years ago. An 18 year two 23 year olds who have come here largely due to who the manager is, should we go down and the inevitable happens and Tan sacks Ole, what happens next?! Not a doom and gloom thread just being realistic.

The Norwegian league is very poor and Molde is a very poor team. Can these players cut the mustard ? Well we have to give them a chance dont we !!

Nukes you are right, in Comparison to our league it's very poor and only the top players from the division can make an impact in England. I just fail to see how this Berget is any good because lets face it, if he was a young Norwegian with a lot of talent he would have had over 10 caps by now for his national side.

He's only a year younger than Bale and he's almost at 50!

Judge the players not the league

Same as our div 1
I'm not saying the players brought in can't cut it in the premier

Berget, four caps and he's 23. All I really need to know. Wales smashed them and Hall Robson Kanus only a year older and has 19!

Not as good as the Scottish Premier, Ive watched a few of their matches in Europe and they are at best, bottom of the Championship, but that does not mean every few years a talented player will not appear look at OLE.

I have heard that Matt in a couple of years will be quality

Annis I agree, many great Norwegians come here and play football at the top level. Not disputing that the top players in Norway can do well here. BUT if Berget was that good he would have more caps by now surely? Only four and he's 23.

I have never seen him play so I don't want to write him off just yet but I am just a little sceptical.

I totally see where your coming from.
My personal opinion, Ole needs 3 Quality players ASAP, I expect at least 2 to arrive Mon/Tuesday

??? Even a 10 second google search and you can see Molde's back to back league wins + a cup win while OGS was managing.

As far as the league - it's no PL that's for sure, but it doesn't mean top talent from the Tippeligaen isn't capable of playing in a top league.

Why hasn't be played more times for his country then? You aren't exactly blessed with brilliant attacking options.

Because they have Mohammed Abdellaoue and Tarik Elyounoussi both playing in the Bundesliga and both have a record of around 1 in 4.

In Midfield they have Berisha, Nordtveit and Henriksen who are all very good players. One plays for RB Salzburg, one plays in the Bundesliga and one plays for AZ. All of these doing well in more respected leagues are of course going to get the nod over somebody plying their trade in Norway.

Eikrem only has so many call ups at such a young age because he played in the Eredivisie for SC Heerenveen.

My email in relation to my other account got accessed by someone from Russia so I got told to change all my accounts on the sites I use or cancel them and set up new ones. i have been up all night sorting out bank stuff etc and now the mods have banned me for no bloody reason. If they want me to troll on multi's then they're going the right way about it. How can they expect me to show respect and post fairly and debate if I'm being treated like a Roathie?

sorry guys but I disagree all a young player with talent needs is the opportunity to improve and the right management, if ole believes hes the type of player to flourish around better players.

Look at dyer of swansea he was awful couldnt do it in league on or the championship until jacks give him a chance, leon briton also was never regarded prem quality or allan..

you give some players a chance and they take it.

Noone for example here, plenty of young players would blossom plahying better opposition

I think the Norwegian league is poorer then the Scottish. But, let's give these players our support and see what they can so.

Well the Matts bossed the DVP game in the first half, says a lot considering a lot of our first team players fail to make a difference to the younger players on show.

Eikrem got an assist off the bench, good signs that his delivery is up to scratch.

Hopefully they can make an impact, obviously Ole has a system and style he wants to impose and bringing in the players who lived up to it.
