How you can compare Torres/Suarez who were 2 big names in football playing in quality leagues before Liverpool signed them to a 23 year old unknown who only has 3 caps for Norway and plays for a team who came 6th in the Norwegian league last season is absolutely baffling.

I see it as signing young players who are hungry with everything to prove who also know what kind of football OGS wants to play. If we end up with Fabio and Zaha - I see again very hungry players to prove Man U wrong and will work that much more to prove themselves. Then we of course have the current squad looking to step up their own game to keep spots.
I think OGS is great at motivating, and I see the signings and potential signings as proof as that.
Of course it's risky, but any moves in this postion would be considered just that.
As always this is all very prematureI could totally be seeing this incorrectly of course - but I hope I'm not!

He had an unsuccessful spell for Udinese in Serie A which in my opinion, is a lesser standard league than the Premiership. He's also only had 3 caps for Norway, which at 23 suggests he isn't quite up to our level, unless Norway have some really good midfielders keeping him out? If he isn't even good enough to make the Norway squad who lost to Scotland 1-0 in November, I am doubtful he will be good enough to improve our squad at the moment. But of course, I will wait until I see him play before making a proper judgement and I do hope he surprises me to prove my initial thoughts wrong.

Seamus Coleman didn't have any PL experience before joining Everton![]()

Diego Forlan had an unsuccessful spell at man utd then went an smashed la liga.
An just because a player isn't picked for an international squad does not mean he's a bad player.
Frazier Campbell is no where near the England squad, should we sell him?

We're not allowed to sign young players willing to succeed and have a team for years to come, we've gotta sign Zamora/Andy Johnson on 80k a week to keep the fans happy

We're not in the position to gamble on youngsters who might come good in the future. We need players who can come in, hit the ground running and improve our team now to keep us up. As I said in another thread, Wes Hoolahan wants to leave Norwich, or even someone like Tim Cahill who is still fit as a fiddle at 34, would bring us the experience, drive and leadership qualities to help get us results.

Diego Forlan never had a run of games for Man Utd and the the pace and physicality of the British game didn't suit his style of play, just like Velikonja. England are a better team than Norway. Comparing the standard of England's strikers ahead of Campbell to Norway's midfielders ahead of this guy we're signing is silly.

We're not in a position to spend big either because Malky Mackhoofball pissed away the budget
