European football, would you take it?

Wed Jan 22, 2014 11:53 pm

Just chucking a question out there would you take it? We have three possible outcomes, we can qualify for it via the Fairplay League as we're still currently top of the disciplinary table(I think England have to have a small amount of cards though at the WC) to qualify, we can win the FA Cup final or we can lose the FA Cup final to a team in the European places.

(Now I'm not saying we will get to the final or we'll still finish top of the disciplinary table) but would you take it? Or would you prefer to concentrate on league efforts(whether it be in the PL or if we got relegated in the Championship)?

Yes.

We may only get a short stab at the big time.

Why not, city in Europe again -great stuff.
Would be a great achievement, as opposed to an achievement of clinging on to premier survival
Watching your home and away fans dwindle away every season (except for top 5 clubs coming to town)

It could be a nice section of a fucked up chapter in Cardiff City history.

No

Reason being I think it would proper mess Cardiff City up. We ain't got a big enough squad and we end up like Leeds, Birmingham and Wigan. Also take a look at Swansea they maybe 14/15 but their scrapping the relegation zone and I think that's down to the uefa cup.

No.

We'd go down next season. Or, if we go down this season (I don't think we will by the way), it would seriously effect our league form.

Not interested in the Europa league. A load of games just killing time until the champs league failures get their safety net.

It has nothing to do with England at the WC, or indeed anything to do with any national side.

All European leagues are in the fair play league and the league that comes in the top 3 at the end of the season can have 1 club qualify that has the highest disciplinary record that hasnt already qualified.

In our first year we finished top of Englands fair play league but didnt qualify for Europe as England finished 7th in the European fair play table.

Yes. Most definitely

What is the purpose of playing in the Premier League if you don't aim for Europe. Swansea might go down, but they'll have huge ties to remember against Napoli.

Who ever says no is lieing.

How could you not want to play some of the best teams in the world.

If they're in the Europa league they aren't the best teams in the world.
Latter stages of the Champs league will give you that

just using swansea as an example, they have played valencia and now napoli this season. if they get through that (which probably wont) then its benfica or porto isnt it?

not bad!

If you dont want to be in Europe then your footballing life has been resigned finishing between 7th and 17th forever. Getting knocked out of the cups along the way to make sure you dont win anything.

Joy. :laughing6:

No, not yet. look at how Swansea and others have struggled in the past.. It would be too early and would place undue pressure on the squad.

If the team were to establish themselves in the premiership then I'd welcome it.

Are you serious? Have you seen the list of teams that qualify for the europa league?

Re: European football, would you take it?

If they are the best teams in the world, then they would qualify for champions league, not Europa league. :laughing6:

Yes you get some good games but I'm not really interested in the competition and for us at this stage we just aren't ready for it. Each to their own though

i dont think us or any other team has the right to say not for now maybe later lol.

i think we should be thrilled to have european football at any stage, it builds the club to the next steps.

Or gets them relegated!
Not sure how a one off season in the EL builds a club to the next level. If you are regularly earning a European place due your league position then perhaps, but certainly not through a random cup win or even worse the fair play route.

if your in league 1 your aim is championship............if your championship the aim is the prem............once in prem, your aim really should be europe, having said the the europa lge is much to tough in the amount of games........i dont get the group stage pre xmas..............the jacks played 2 knock out rounds, then the group...6 games in grp to get rid of 2 teams? that could be knock out and take 4 games out............but in answer..yes..id love to b in europe

Europa league is a pile of pants so It's a big no for me however if they changed the format to a knockout and played on a Wednesday I would be excited about it.

What happened to the Intertoto cup or what ever it was called?

Can see both sides of it, people are not against the idea fully it's just the way we are and the time. Give it 2/3 years then I would welcome it.

Has any team ever been relegated while competing in the Europa League then?

By being in Europe it brings in better quality players. Would we have got Bony if we couldnt offer European football? Im not too sure.
