Full time Oxford United 2 Cardiff City 3
Great game
Cardiff City set up fifth round tie with Chelsea with 3-2 win
Kevin Nicholson's Academy side set up a FA Youth Cup fifth round tie with Chelsea with a fantastic 3-2 victory over Oxford United at Didcot Town's npower Loop Stadium.
It was Macauley Southam who got the young Bluebirds off to the best of starts as his ninth minute strike clinically finished a well weighted pass from Dylan Rees, before Wales Under-19 International Abdi Noor doubled City's advantage just before half-time.
United however came back fighting in the second half and were given the opportunity to pull a goal back as Rees brought down Chris Hackett in the area - Josh Ashby stepped up to slot home and bring Oxford back within one.
It wasn't long before City regained their two goal advantage as Tom Burridge fired home a stunning free-kick eleven minutes from time to see regain control of the tie. But it was set up for a tense finish as Oxford were awarded a second penalty for handball; Ashby slotting home comfortably to make it a tense final few minutes.
United almost equalised through Dave Roberts who struck the underside of the City crossbar shortly afterwards, but the Bluebirds would hold on to their lead to secure an excellent away victory and a fifth round FA Youth Cup tie against Chelsea at Cardiff City Stadium.
