Can't believe that. It's there nickname used as a word on endearment. Racism should have consequences but this is not racism

Ridiculous. I may now file for damages and submit deeply offending footage of being accused of beastiality by the despicable brutes chants of 'Sheep Shaggers' whilst they re-enforce the message by bouncing around a small inflatable plastic sheep. I'm tempted to start a group called 'The Society Of Welsh Lawyers' as this seems to be the thing to do. Must go now, as I have Close Harmony Choir Practice first thing.

Amazed 3 fans could make so much noise on TV

How can they decide to choose 3 people to arrest whilst all their fans sing it. Strange place this world is becoming

I think it's pretty Dumb to be honest.....but I think some know they need to distance themselves with this label
Because of the far right groups that have targeted their fans.....and all this anelka business shows us that on the continent anti seminism is alive and kicking.

just about sums this country up.

Pathetic, I don't understand why it's become an issue now? It's been sung for years. What baffles me as well is that these 'Rap' stars continuously sing the N word, yet it's an offence if used by anyone else. Their defence being that they're reclaiming the word and using it in good light. In that case, isn't that what Tottenham are doing? It's not used in a derogatory way. It's sung affectionately.

exactly.........they sing it with pride.
dont see who can be offended,or why.
imagine the jacks being arrested for singing ...gypo army...

Didn't David Cameron state he thought there was nothing wrong with Spurs fans using the term? It's absolutely pathetic! If those 3 are charged, you would think the other 30 thousand plus Spurs fans will also get charged for using the phrase at some point of their lives supporting their club?
The way it's going, we'll get more and more Malaysian's showing interest in our football club and taking offence to our nickname. The word Bluebird is offensive in Malaysia, so every City fan will get charged in the future for shouting Bluebirds!

The major difference between those rap stars and the Spurs fans are that 99% of the Spurs fans chanting it are not Jewish. It would be the same as a bunch of white guys reappropraiting the N word for themselves. There is no way that would stand with anybody.
Whilst I sympathise with the Spurs fans and understand that they sing the phrase as a word of endearment, the fact of the matter is that the Jewish community do not want the word used at all and Spurs fans need to understand that, if they truly were in support and endeared to the Jewish community they would listen.

I don't agree sorry. I was reading quotes from spurs fans the other day who were Jewish and had connections to the club, they always have had a strong Jewish connection at the club. Why all of a sudden is it an issue? They've been singing it for years. Isn't Eminem white? He's been using the N word for years as well and nothing seems to be wrong in the publics eye.
It seems to me that there are certain words that will always be associated with bad things. Eg the N word. There seems to be an ever growing List of words that people can't use anymore now. The shortening of Pakistani seems to be viewed as derogatory, yet it's ok to call an Australian an Ozzie? It's just silly in my eyes. PC gone mad.

I am Jewish and have been to Tottenham to watch the Spurs and joined in with Yiddo chanting.
Who exactly is the offended here? As far as i can have understood it. David Baddiel the comedy
writer is Jewish and supporter of Chelsea. He made official complaint saying that when Spurs
fans chant Yiddo it encouraged Chelsea fans to sing anti-semetic chanting. What his problem is
that Chelsea fans are racist and he is embarrased of it. For Spurs fan to be charged for this is
really quite crazy? spurs fans sing 'yiddo' at Hasidic Jews as they pass pubs and there is never
offence taken. i know this.

Chelsea fans have never needed any encouragement to start an anti-Semitic chant when playing against Tottenham. Same goes for most of the London clubs. David Baddiel knows this better than anybody. This is exactly why the Tottenham fans have re-claimed the Y word. By the way, Tottenham do have a considerable Jewish support, who have had abuse for decades. If they choose to re-claim a particular word, and use it as a badge of honour, good for them.
