FAO Molde fans

Tue Jan 21, 2014 5:07 pm

Are there any other players that OGS may consider bringing to Cardiff besides Forren and Nyland? Having watched a few videos on "youtube" (not the most reliable I know) the left winger looks decent, as well as the number 8, who was a short lad who seemed to play up front with quick feet.
Thanks in advance for any replies. :ayatollah:

First off,I am not a Molde fan.I played against them 1 or 2 times almost 30 years ago,and that stuck with me for life it seems
I am big Ole fan though.Just a decent good and intelligent guy who I believe will reach the top among international managers/coaches.

If you throw in a link to a youtube clip that will make it easier to know who you mean.I don't know who is number 8 on Molde, and I don't know if they played with a firm left winger.I think Molde often played kind of 4-4-2,but I am honestly not sure.Jo Inge Berget often wander around the left side, but also was more of a second striker, often a little lower in the pitch working hard and giving really good passes to the other striker.Jo Inge Berget is a really talented guy, around 22 years I think, but if he is better than all the many good players allready in Cardiff I don't know.
Molde has two quite small pacey strikers in Fredrik Guldbrandsen and Tommy Hoeyland.I guess maybe it was Guldbrandsen you saw on youtube? Also a great talent, but still quite young and a talent.

Vegard Forren was in my opinion absolutely brilliant as left CB in the 2012 season, maybe the best player overall in the Norwegian League that year, and I was sure that one of the near top clubs in europe was going to pick him up.He went to Southampton, but never got to play for the first team.Don't understand why,but maybe he just hasn't got enough pace to play in premiership? That is my concern about him,the pace. Molde bought him back in second half of 2013,but since then I have not seen him getting back to the top level he was in 2012.In 2013 I think the other CB Even Hovland was better than Forren.
Nyland is a good goalkeeper, but also still a talent, not fully developed, and I don't know if he rivals Marshall.Marshall looks like a class goalkeeper to me.

I think maybe it is smart to just wait and see how Eikrem and Daehli compares when they get tested on a high premiership level before Ole looks to much at other Norwegian talents.

One rumour had it that Ole tried to get Stroemsgodset central midfielder Stefan Johanson, who in my opinion was one of the best players in Norway the 2013 season, but a rumour said that Johanson turned the Oles offer down. He has now signed for Celtic.

Cheers,
Rune

Even Hovland is still at Molde yes,and in my opinion took responsibilty and new steps after Forren left before the 2013 season.
Hovland was Moldes captain(sorry if I sometimes make up unfamiliar English words  ) in the 2013 season, and also after Forren came back second half of that season Hovland still was the best of them in my opinion.

But I honestly,I still don't know how good quality players in the Norwegian League will hold up against premiership quality.I still need to see more from Eikrem and Daehli, and if their good qualities are good enough to make a difference in the premiership.
Honestly,I never felt Eikrem stood out head and shoulders above other good players in the Norwegian League.I rated Forren and Angan higher than Eikrem in the 2012 Molde squad.
Eikrem has a really top quality right foot,he can certainly scoore some goals from outside the 16m,make some brilliant passes, and can read the game as an excellent playmaker, but there are others here that are close at those qualities.Stefan Johanson is one of them.
I have never seen Eikrem as a good defending midfielder.Seems a little to weak. But I might not have looked close enough. To me he often was a little invisible in many games.
But I do of course think he is a good player and he is a guy who wants to develop and that means he will!
And Ole knows him very well and would never bought him if he wasn't sure he would bring some extra qualities to the allready good Cardiff team

Thank you for your reply Rune.

Shame we couldn't get that Stefan Johansen he looks decent.

I honestly think we should try to poach Celtic's head of recruitment, he has unearthed some absolute gems over the years.
