Your 3 current favourite City players and why

Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:25 pm

1. Whitts - great servant of this club and club legend in my eyes - stuck with us when other offers on the table and is a genuinely nice bloke - he's also performed well this season, some critics aside (each to their own - lets not turn this into a slanging match) and he's contributed with goals and assists. Is he the greatest player? No he's not but he's a role model for what he's done for this club and how he's helped us do a job and get their in the end. Also has provided us with some of the greatest moments some of us may ever see as city fans.

2. Noone - exciting player who seems to just thrive off the energy and is very direct - I am myself a great admirer of this type of winger that likes to pick up the ball and run at players - McManaman of Liverpool used to do it and Giggs at United before they got on but its just amazing to watch them accelerate and put defenders out of sorts and on the back foot - such an exciting player who always tries is hardest and has a great sense of humour too - its amazing how players like this make the game look so simple by not overcomplicating it. Is Noone as good as those 2? No, but there are some similarities and he is learning all the time.

3. Fraizer - done the business in the Championship and has done well often in the lone striker role - always has a smile on his face and does his job without complaining - just a general good enthusiasm for the game and he tries his hardest - also got an edge to his game and when he turns it on and he's in the right mood he's unplayable - at times this season he's been a right pain in the arse for defenders to cope with and alongside other attacking players who are at this level I think he may flourish even more. He at times was the positive end of a negative battery under Malky for me - I'd often fear the worst due to the negative tactics but then Fraizer would pop up and grab a goal.

Who's yours?

Marshall - He was good last season, but we all knew he would be busier this season. Some of the WORLD CLASS saves he has made have just been incredible. Where would we be without him this year? bottom for sure, but by how much more.

Mcnaughton - Effort and durability. Still our best RB defensively, deserves more premier league matches untill someone else comes through.

Mutch - Improved a lot as the season has gone on, still young, and surely worth 3 or 4 times what we paid for him! :ayatollah:

1. Super Kev - Been a great servant to the club and although he's not great going forward, still one of the best actual defenders we have at the club, for me.

2. Gary Medel - World class and would make get into almost any team in the Premier League in my opinion, totally worth every penny we spent on him. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time to break up play and his passing is top class.

3. David Marshall - Not many better shot stoppers, and his command of area has improved drastically since we first signed him. Distribution not the best at times, but that's a small flaw since he rarely makes a mistake and has won us point after point on his own in the last 2 or 3 seasons.

Interesting question, but here goes;

David Marshall, a quality keeper.

Peter Whittingham, has served us well over the last six or so years.

Craig Bellamy, loves our club, & want the best for us.

I'd probably agree with the original post but maybe have a joint third with Frazier and Jordan mutch.... Whittingham really doesnt get the credit for his contribution this season. If it wasn't for his assists and goals we would be guaranteed relegation

1. Marshall - kept us in many games which awesome saves and have saved us for most of the season.

2. Noone - Brings attack to our side - At man city thought it was the best performance seen in a City shirt.

3. Caulker - Has experience and is still young :ayatollah:

Some interesting responses. I asked 3 because its very hard to pick 3 out in my opinion because there's another 2 I could have included in there but with it being 3 it makes you weigh up the pros and cons of each properly. Also allows you to see what type of player each fan admires.

Footballs all about opinions. My choice, i suppose, is down to loyalty,,,,that's my perception anyway.

If you asked the same question, but included the future, then that would probably be different.

Great bloke Polo. Met him twice and once on the lash and he's a top laugh although Whitts and Gunnarsson are a top laugh out on the town as well. Really down to Earth people and just up for a good time and a laugh. Crazy all the 18-21 year old waiting around for them as well for these players to take notice yet these players got mrs and most of them ain't interested at all as they know they're just after the fame and money. Unbelievable to witness how these girls put themselves on show for these players - its like a revolving bookshelf honestly with a big 'pick me' sign on each of them. Whitts and Gunnarsson were just just joking about it and said they're used to it.

1. Mutch- stepped up his game from the championship and is involved heavily in the team.

2. Campbell- always consistent and has created a lot of chances.

3. Marshall- proved that he can be a class keeper at this level.

1st- McNaughton a true club legend and my 2nd Favorite cardiff player of all time (behind Earnie) so pleased that he's come back into the starting 11 deserved it. He played very well against Man City aswell what a legend. :ayatollah:

Caulker - That goal
Bellamy - That goal

1. Bellamy - His work rate and quality on the ball. Seems to give everyone else a lift when he plays

2. Whitts - He's quality, rightly dropped towards end of last season but come back better this season. Has scored and set us some vital goals this season despite being played out of position. Play him centrally.

3. Marshall - Kept us in so many games this season. If he could come and collect crosses he would be at a top 4 team IMO. Up there with the bet shot stoppers in the league.

Campbell, Noone and Mutch also deserve mention because each of them have shown they can step up to the Premier League.

If Medel can recapture his early season form he will be up there too.

If we beat Swansea at the Liberty and we survive the drop they will all be legends

--------------- Fraizer---------------------

110% Every game. Chases lost cause with shit balls from Whittingham. No service as Whittingham is shit.

--------------Gunnarsson---------------------

Will remain one of my favourite City players. Hasn't had the playing time yet people are calling him shit. Had a good game at Man City and I'm sure he'll feature more. 24, Icelands Captain and best player.

---------------Marshall----------------------

If it wasn't for him, god only knows how many points we'd have.

Mutch doesn't make it for his laughable Twitter page.
