Palace away the same year was good too, after the Malcom Allison programme notes that predicted a Palace win and Palace promotion because they were a bigger club than us..............we wouldnt get 25,00 against Hereford the following Tuesday............we beat Palace, won promotion over them and had 36,000 against Hereford

Yes, indeed! That Hereford game is the only one ever that I have missed the kick off. Got to Ninian Park about ten past seven, and the queues were massive. We all hoped for a good attendence, but never really expected that many. Usually went on the Bob Bank, but the crowds were too big, so went in the Enclosure, (later, the lower grandstand, Canton side), and got in about twenty to eight. Didn't get a programme either, again the only time. Got one years later. A lot of people think that the real attendence was bigger than the official 35k. Back in those days, City did seem to give lower figures than we all thought were actually at games. Some used to say that they did not count ST holders in the total, but I don't know. Happy days!

I would be very surprised if there was only 36,000 there, more like 40 to 45,000. Never seen so many people fit on a train as the one that I came on from Barry & going back was even worse with everyone trying to get on the first one.
