' Come the end of February '

Mon Jan 20, 2014 3:39 pm

Thats when I believe you can fully comment on or Judge Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
I did say 12 games, but I think with the following 9 games City will have played, that can tell you a lot.
By then we will have played some of the best teams and some of the poorest teams in the Premier.

We beat Newcastle Away in the Cup
We lost at Home to an awful West Ham side.
We lost Away to one of the best teams in the UK Man City, but we made them earn their points and we scored two goals, which is better than most clubs do.

Now we go Away to Bolton in the Cup who are feeling low and concede goals from everywhere.
Then Manchester United Away who have lost 4 at home already and only won 5, also they are having one of their worst seasons for many a year and their fans are on their backs, score first there and who knows.

Hopefully Ole's style of play should beat the likes of

01/02/2014 15:00 Norwich City (h)

08/02/2014 17.30 Swansea City (a)

11/02/2014 19:45 Aston Villa (h)

22/02/2014 15:00 Hull City (h)

I think we can get ten points from next month, maybe nine will be more achievable.

Minimum seven has to be the aim though.

That would take us up to 25 points with 11 games to find 15 points.

I've seen plenty of positives in all of Solskjaers three games

Newcastle was an excellent performance and a superb away win

West Ham we were up against a side who relied on ten men behind the ball and two sucker punches on the counter. We missed enough chances to win the game twice along with two blatant penalties turned down by a shocking referee display. We'll finish above them by May

Man City. For an hour we matched the best team in the country and caused more problems at the Etihad than most of the country

I'm confident we can take a point from Old Trafford, then in February with one or two new faces will pick a minimum of 5 points up. One win, two draws

Norwich Draw
Swansea Draw
Villa Loss
Hull Win

So difficult to predict.

Each of those away teams clubs will fancy beating City and their task will be made easier if City don't attack from the off and also bring in some new players.

swansea away is a lottery; they to be fair have being going through a similar run of ill fortune and injuries etc. Seeing no team has done the double, it is unlikely to occur this time.

You can bring in Man U away into your equation. May all depend on whether Rooney & RVP play?

I reckon City can draw up there and will do so if those 2 are missing.
I reckon City will win 1 of the home games (Hull), lose 1 (Villa) and draw one (Norwich) and draw at Swansea.
It is surely asking too much to expect City to win all 3 at home when they have only won 3 at home all season. But I fear they will have to as going into March bottom with Spurs, Everton & Liverpool to play will be disastrous.

Think we'll lose to United but then pick up some points in Feb.

01/02/2014 15:00 Norwich City (h) WIN

08/02/2014 17.30 Swansea City (a) DRAW

11/02/2014 19:45 Aston Villa (h) WIN

22/02/2014 15:00 Hull City (h) DRAW

Hopefully a new striker will be brought in and possibly a winger and a left back.

Not much time for the team to start to gel under the new manager. I was positive about Malky going as his brand of football was only ever going to end in tears in the top flight. I feel that at least if we go down now we won't be the most boring team in the history of the EPL to be relegated and will at least play some attacking football.

I think the FA cup game has come at the right time for us, we can give 2 or 3 different players a run out partially from the bench if we go a few goals up.

A win will give us some much needed confidence, with 3 home games plus Swansea away (they are starting to realise they are in the mix) we are good enough to get some big points, just hope the team thinks that way too.

I genuinely feel we can pick up 10 points before the end of February. However, I am the eternal optimist.

For me, our season starts in Feb

I'm reluctant to get drawn, to be honest. It might be an old cliche, but its one game at a time. Lets wait and see. At the end of the season, the league table will not be telling lies.

Some people on here judged Malky after a loss away to Bristol City last season and then the same people say he's a club legend???

I'm happy to keep my judgement to what I witness on the football pitch and the players happiness with Ole.

I'm not a fan of putting a deadline on when I can judge Ole TBH, in my opinion.

Without a top striker we are going to struggle to win any games.

Personally I think Ole having the Newcastle Cup game and beating them, fair Play and then having Bolton is perfect for Ole to get to know his players and all his squad, he can experiment and at the same time knowing he is putting them in proper first team games unlike the Development games, Ole has nothing to lose and can only gain from these FA CUP games.

Usually these games are a distraction, but for Ole they are perfect

If he wants to keep Cardiff up he has to win EVERY one of those games - which would be an unbelivable acheivment

If he doesnt get the full 12 points then it will be too steep a steep hill to climb with little chance of getting the points we need to stay up - 7 points certainly will not cut it - as per my previous fixture predictions 7 points in Feb indicates we are on the way to finishing with around 31 points end of season

I don't think the Bolton game will tell us much but the other games in February will.

Luke, I wasnt saying that game will tell us anything, but that particular game is good for Ole to asses his squad etc

You have to believe he can do it! We all need to be positive! That positive attitude will translate to the players and we can give them belief, if they play well and attack the opposition that will lift the crowd, too many games recently have been marred by the team sitting deep and trying to hang on! This led to tension that was tangible throughout the stadium, we were hanging on and everyone felt it, such a negative feeling that deflated our support.
Just my humble opinion, football is about excitement and taking the game to the opposition in a controlled and disciplined way.

Agree, gives him a chance to look at others and then maybe more some out.
