For me Craig Noone has been outstanding in the last few games he has played for us and has stood out in every game.

I wonder how much Noone is worth nowadays ?

Craig Noone “There is a belief we will stay up”

By Terry Phillips

Noone scored an outstanding goal and at 2-1 down in the second half there were times when Cardiff looked capable of finding an equaliser.

Man-of-the-match Craig Noone scored his first Premier League goal, but only wanted to talk about Cardiff City’s battle for survival.

The Bluebirds are bottom of the Premier League after their 4-2 defeat at Manchester City, but Noone said: “There is a belief we will stay up.”

Noone scored an outstanding goal and at 2-1 down in the second half there were times when Cardiff looked capable of finding an equaliser.

Now they travel to play Manchester United at Old Trafford and Noone said: “We don’t fear anybody and that showed in our performance at the Etihad.

“We go into every game trying to earn points and believing we can do that. Every player knows we have the quality to do well at Old Trafford and over the rest of this season.”

Noone gave Manchester City defenders a tough time with his runs from wide.

He scored Cardiff’s first goal and their second, scored by Fraizer Campbell, came from a corner earned by Noone, whose fierce low shot was turned away by goalkeeper Joe Hart.

“When we fell behind that didn’t alter our mindset at all,” said Noone. “We stayed confident, kept our shape and worked to hit them on the counter.

“We knew we had to take chances when we created them and to score twice against Manchester City here shows we did that.

“It was amazing to score my first Premier League goal, but it’s not about me.

“This can’t be about individuals, I did OK and made sure I made positive runs when we had possession, but the result was disappointing for everybody.

“We started slowly, but worked our way back into the game and there are positives from our performance.

“Not too many teams score two goals against Manchester City at the Etihad.

“It’s clear we should have done better in possession, but overall we did OK.”

I'd say at the moment he's worth about 4mill , if he carries on this form for the rest of the season and he could double that but needs a prolonged spell of playing well not just a few weeks , we all know he has had a tendency to go missing in the past lets hope he's got that out of his system :ayatollah:

All he's done so far is show the rest of the world how good he can be , now he needs to show for the rest of the season how good he really is :ayatollah: great player :ayatollah:

Your right, if he plays a few more games like he has been, then current value in Prem £4mill and if in May still playing like that worth £8mill. :ayatollah:

Agree with that mate. Has the potential to become a big premiership player but has to find some consistency - which in fairness since has come in to the side he has done so far.

Wolves sold matt jarvis for a fee of 7.5mill which could go up to £10.75m. Not saying Noone is worth that much as he ain't, but clubs do spend ridiculous amounts on english players...

It amazes me how many times people say he's Championship standard, Malky doesn't play him til our 16th league game then suddenly he shows his true ability and very same people think he's class again...

Dignified as ever Nooney is, true professional and despite getting sole rave reviews, he praises his team mates as well, oozes class

I questioned many times on this forum why Noone was being overlooked by MM up until the point that :ayatollah: he got his chance.

Noone provides us with a different option than our predictable style of play under MM. He provides width, pace, he an beat defenders and he can score goals. Why did it take so long for him to get his chance?

All we need now is the same on the other side of the pitch (Zaha hopefully), another striker, centre back & full back. :ayatollah:

It was crazy he wasn’t chosen for months especially when we were struggling so much to create anything in games. I could understand him not starting games but to not be used as a sub in games where we were struggling to break teams down was stubborn bordering on madness.

He is in good form, at this moment I would say he is worth 2/3/4m if he can keep performing and do it over a longer period then he can easily be worth a lot more, consistency will be the key. If I’m totally honest I think he lacks a yard of pace to be a top player but where we are I have no doubt he is a lower premiership player.

Ole needs to be careful here.

When he came here last season he ripped the arse out of teams then as with all our players went totally off the boil.

Have posted on here before about noone, I was a big fan but wasn't sure like many if he was strong enough! His attitude has been exceptional and I said at the time I think prem football suits him better and I stand by that! It's the modern game at top level, and looking and being built like a twelve year old he seems to fit the bill!! Well done nooney, for the throat at utd! Nothing to fear :ayatollah:

I just wonder why Mackay refused to play him for a large part of the beginning of the season

If he continues like he has....

It must be 10 mil plus. Come on guys... Think. Zaha went for 8 didn't he? With no prem experience.

If Noone keeps it up through the season it's going to be between 10 and 15 mill.

The form he is in now is england World Cup form I wonder if he can keep it going be great for us if he can

Re: ' Craig Noone '

Zaha was 15m and over rated as cant do basics despite all the tricks! Noone has played 5 games but it looks promising, consistency the key!

Re: ' Craig Noone '

f**k. 15 mill for Zaha. Ok I withdraw my previous statement.

Surely 20 mill is more realistic.

Not a zaha fan. All that money just on the promise of being good.

Noone has delivered nicely so far , to me his value is much more than Zaha.

Every time he had the ball he caused a world class team like man city problems, won us the game against west brom, excellent against Liverpool, newcastle and arsenal.
Also his defensive play has improved so much,if he carries on playing like he has its inevitable teams will come sniffing around. I just hope we can keep him, whatver league we are in next season

Theres no way Noone is only worth £4m, Cornelius was £7.5m, Noone must be worth £15m!!

Noone is a winger ,cornelius is a striker you can't compare the two
Noone was awful beginning of the season in the DVP games and was made to look amateur by Harris on the other side .
He was very hit and miss last season , his big problem is his consistency .

You can't say a player is worth 15mill just because he has had 2/3 decent games and 1 brilliant game . He is very inconsistent and hardly set the championship alight last year like somebody like Tom ince /zaha / Sinclair have done in the past . They are only rated around 8mill , why would noone be worth any more ? (man utd payed way over the odds for zaha)

Sorry I like noone he's a great little player but everybody is getting a bit carried away he still has a hell of a lot to prove before he is worth that kind of money .
Plus he is 26 not a teenager like the others mentioned and his scoring record is hardly impressive ( 22 in 178 games ).

Re: ' Craig Noone '

Mon Jan 20, 2014 3:48 pm

It's worth bearing in mind we were prepared to pay around £8m for Ince not too long ago - I know who I'd rather.

Regarding his quality - there are players who will play to the same level whatever league they are in - players like, Ricky Lambert, Steve Bull, Grant Hoult, Jay DeMerit (playing for Northwood in Div 7 at 24). Maybe Craig has taken a little while to adjust to a new club and will be one of those players who will shine with a run in the team. I think also having a new manager will help, particularly one who places so much importance on attack.

Brilliant wasn't he? £2-3 million? His defensive frailties weigh against him.

The question to ask though is why oh why did Mackay not play him until 24 November?
Madness.

Re: ' Craig Noone '

Mon Jan 20, 2014 4:39 pm

For people to get so excited about Noone confirms the Malky drained any form of creativity and attacking football out of the team and that we are clutching at straws!

Noone is a decent player but limited by his inconsistency and defending. I hope the recent improvement is due to him maturing and making better decisions and that it continues but I hope OGS gets some more pace and flair into the team because anti-football-malky destroyed that in us.

He changed the game totally against Man Utd at home too ( his Premier League debut :o ).
His direct approach had their defence in disarray and he was brought down in the free kick that we got our equaliser from, more of the same Nooney.

Because he is way too creative and attacking thinking for Malkys liking, he couldnt have that in the squad

Your only as good as your last run of form and last season was very inconsistent hence why people thought he wasn't ready for this level and also Why malky wasn't playing him. He's now been on fire and people start believing in him again, it's normal to change opinions on a player

I think you will see the best of Noone the better our midfield gets. So hes not a Cowie as regards his defensive stengths, so what? George Best wasn't! If our midfield strengthens I think he would be able to concentrate solely on offensive play and would be likely to get even better and more consistent.
