I think he keeps getting banned and then creating new ones. He also requests name changes on his accounts as well. Im seriously considering packing the forum in myself. This was once a really great forum with great posters but its hard to maintain a decent community/debate when people are insistent on twisting things and just talking general tripe. I only enjoy discussing things with a small selection of posters now.

Im a member on a student forum (GCSE/A Level/Undergrad/Postgrad) and the intelligence levels on there are way above here. You can actually have a decent debate that goes on for 20+ pages. Owain and the mods are really in a catch 22 though because the software of this forum isn't as advanced as that forum software and therefore doesn't have certain settings etc. to really ensure its a good forum (community) to be. Really should upgrade the forum software to XenForo to be honest. It costs around £80 but then you get a decent ROI because your community becomes better and grows.

agreed. I will only have football discussion with older members as dont know where coming or going with all these multis.

Ole has been at United since the mid 90s and that coincided with the time I began to watch teams other than Cardiff, not that I have to explain myself to you Mario.

I only post under this account, but I have seen members on here say that you have two user IDs minimum, Mario and Bluebird Since 1948.

So what does XenForo give?

You can set people into groups of invisibility so they see their posts but others don't see them so they are basically stuck in a locked room thinking people see their posts but its not really happening. Im unsure as to whether phpBB3 offers this. It may do.

You can have areas dedicated to specific people only - I know this can be done on here but they could make money from it. I'd happily pay £1-2 per month to join a dedicated room and debate with people who are interested in doing so. Its more money for the forum and it improves the community - the trolls and multis won't continuously pay and pay to join that exclusive VIP area of the forum and they're therefore kept in the public forum area out of the way of those who wish to have a good time and good debate

Theres plenty more features such as news modules etc. which would bring in more traffic and more users which increases revenue through adds - membership to the VIP forum area. Theres massive potential for a forum like this that is welcoming of fans of all clubs.

Honestly, its the way to go. Of course the initial investment is a big sum, well it is to a student like me, but the ROI is of course worth it in the long run. All the best forums I use run on either XenForo, VBulletin or Invasion Power Board. XenForo however is the up and coming one and its cheaper - its being run and improved by ex VBulletin developers who left to do their own thing because of the way VBulletin was going - VB used to be amazing but now its just expensive and a waste. XenForo is the one to get now.

Dando, in all fairness, its impossible to tell. There are so many multi's signing up now its unreal. Polo is right. There needs to be a section of the forum where posters can pay to access a VIP area. It will keep the idiots out. I pay £1 per month on a student forum and we have a chat box etc to talk about stuff etc. and our own separate forum. The trolls are there in force on the public forum but it doesn't matter as they are kept separate from the known members who've been around for years. You get what you pay for these days. VIP members can go into the public forum to entertain the trolls if they wish but thats entirely up to them etc.
