Are we...

Sat Jan 18, 2014 4:45 pm

At a turning point now?

This is a crucial part of the season. Thanks to our GD we're now in 20th, behind Sunderland and West Ham on the same points. 3 points only gets us 16th now and I only see that gap widening in the next weeks with the United game ahead.

I'm trying to keep the faith but this season is just hurt at every corner, I really really hope we can get it together and win the home games because otherwise that vital 17th spot is looking further and further away.

Nice positive comment  it's only 3 points!

We could smash chelsea at home. Its our only hope we need those three points.

basically lads the bottom line is we need to finish the season witg mid table form to survive.
so it means over achieving slightly

Well I dunno about smashing Chelsea, esp if they're pushing for title.

But if we beat Norwich, Villa, Hull, Fulham, Palace and Stoke at home, which is achievable, then we only need to take draws from a couple of other matches to stay out of trouble.

The frustrating thing is that we're easily the best side in the bottom 7 or 8 and our position does not do us justice!

May I remind you that you have only taken 2 from you last possible 18. Fantastic form right there.

I quite agree. No-one in the bottom 10 is safe. But, honestly, bearing in mind your results against Sunderland and West Ham, where do you see your points coming from.

Based on what! All those teams are better than you.

Based on the league table? we are more than capable than winning those games. Home advantage aswell will help. Id worry more about yourselves as you are on a slippery slope.

Again I ask - why? You've only got 18 points from 22 games, so the law of averages suggests that 21 points from 7 games is not going to happen. Did you not think you were more than capable of beating Sunderland? and West Ham? and Stoke?

We are at home, judging by today's performance we are looking more dangerous and playing against lesser teams at home I believe will get us points on the board. We were poor against west ham but could have easily won, it was one of those games. Same with Sunderland, but I feel we will get results against these teams as we are improving and with new additions we can only get better. Does that mean that you will also get relegated based ok your current form?

If I'm honest I don't know. I am not taking PL survival as a given. I watched your game today, and whilst I would agree that you could have scored more, you must surely also agree that you could have conceded a lot more, as well. You were fortunate that, in the first minute, the ref didn't give the penalty which would have also resulted in a sending off. Also, you admit that there are games that you could and should have won, which you have lost, so could that not be the case with future games? Another factor not in your favour is the inexperience of OGS. The majority of other team have got managers used to dogfights - just look at Palace recently
