Malky & the No 9 Shirt...

Fri Jan 17, 2014 10:39 pm

2011/12 Kenny Miller. 2012/13 Etien Velikonja. 2013/14 Andreas Cornelius.

What have they all got in common?

Indeed. Jay Bothroyd, Steve Thompson & Stephen Maclean to name some other recent ones.

In my opinion, Jay could have done more, a lot more. Delusions of grandeur spring to mind.

Kenny Miller,,,, did OK, had the same problem with all Malky's teams,,asked to play the lone target man.

Didn't he come to Cardiff City because Malky promised him that he would to sign him one day??

Jay played his best football with us..............said this many times,if he played to his full potential he would never have been with us at all,not unlike Robin Friday.............and yes Malky said that he had told Kenny that if ever he was in a position to buy him,he would................very under rated....tried his heart out, about 5ft 8 and asked to spend the game jumping against 6ft 5 centre halves...........

Jay could have achieved a lot more. Agree about Kenny's height,,never was going to be his strength, which he made up for in his tenacious ball control, on times anyway. They will all go down well in the annals of Cardiff City FC history.

Bothroyd is overrated by many of our fans. Some days he was the worst player in all 4 leagues. Others he was the best. He was a 50/50 player and therefore overrated. People are nostalgic about Jay because when he was around we had an attacking style and he sometimes had that flair, cutting edge and knack we've lacked since up top. Under Malky we didn't have that attacking prowess so our views of Jay as an attacker have been amplified.

Overrated, or lazy, i always felt Jay was capable of a lot more,,,& better. A Wolves supporting colleague of mine said so shortly after we signed him. I, like many im sure, watched him closely. He could change a game in an instance.

When he went off after ten minutes v Blackpool in the play off final, i knew we were f****d.

Kenny Miller was decent for us in the Championship.

Thankfully it looks like Solskjaer's going to get Cornelius to prove his doubters wrong.

I don't think any striker was going to flourish under Malky, the way we set up gave all the the strikers a tough job.

IMO we wernt the same team without bothroyd in it. Take the play off final for instance he comes off injured and everything changes if he stayed on that field we would of won.. The only reason why he didn't reach his full potential and I think most of you would agree with it is because of the England cap if he didn't have that I think he would of reached it and wouldn't of been such a money grabbing b*stard he is today
