' Solskjaer supports Cornelius '

Fri Jan 17, 2014 5:15 pm

Friday 17th January 2014.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Andreas Cornelius will make an impact at Cardiff City and wants to help the striker adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

Cornelius was a £7.5million signing from FC Copenhagen last summer, but he has yet to start a Premier League game for Cardiff.

He has made 10 appearances in all competitions without scoring, but Solskjaer believes the 20-year-old can be a success in south Wales.

The Cardiff boss points to his own time as a striker at Manchester United as an example of how players need to be given the chance to settle in English football.

"Andreas had a tough time with injuries and there is always a transition period with the culture and tempo," Solskjaer is quoted in the Daily Star.

"I had a great first season at Man United, then I did my ankle and the whole second half I couldn't get up to the pace of the Premier League.

"So that's what we're doing now with Andreas. We're trying to get him going and working on his confidence.

"He's not had any luck in front of goal, so we'll work every day putting crosses in and getting him fit. He will make an impact at the club."

People need to give him a chance, he didn't choose his price, hopefully Ole can get the best out of him

fans having confidence in him, stems from the manager having confidence in him.......of course that only buys him time, but im pleased Ole has said this tbh.

Willing to give him a go as Ole is an attacking minded manager and will give our strikers tutoring sessions.

You also have to question why he has only player 105 minutes, he has been back to fitness for week.

If Ole can get him firing then brilliant.

Great players have obvious natural abilities even if they are out of form! Have we seen any evidence? Not pre-judging but genuinely asking for peoples' opinions.

Give him until we're relegated? Great idea. Maybe he'll come good in the Championship and fire us to promotion.

Why slag him off ? If you've got nothing good to say..... Say nothing. I watched him for 60 mins at Newcastle, at least he turned up ! Most of his " critics "didn't. :-) :ayatollah:

What if he is afraid or takes longer than most to gain match fitness. 105 minutes is absurd

How dare our manager talk sense !!!!!

Bony looked crap and he is older and far more experienced...Looks Ok now though

Re: ' Solskjaer supports Cornelius '

Cornelius hasn't accumulated much game time here but he's only young as a previous poster stated he didn't choose his price tag, undoubtedly we over payed for him and I don't think anyone can argue that and the price tag hasn't helped him either IMO, but as fans we must support him on the pitch and it's sad to see some writing him off already, he offers something different for us and I believe once he gets a run in he could be prove to be a good acquisition to the squad. Put it this way I'd rather gamble on Cornelius Upfront than leave odemwingie hog the ball and get nowhere for 90 mins.

I think he meant 'support' as in bearring the weight of a fat person.
