A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City midfielder Filip Kiss says the club's former manager Malky Mackay is "better off at another club" after his controversial sacking.
Mackay was sacked just after Christmas and replaced with Norwegian boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a public fallout with Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan.
But the club's Slovakian midfielder, who completed a loan move to Scottish side Ross County last week, has backed his former boss to return to the highest echelons of football in the near future.
FILIP KISS reckons getting the bullet from Cardiff is the best thing that could have happened to Malky Mackay.
The Bluebirds midfielder – who is on loan at Ross County for the rest of the season – was hardly shocked when Mackay was removed by hardline owner Vincent Tan at the end of the year.
His biggest surprise was that Malky had managed to last so long while at the whim of the Malaysian owner.
Kiss – who was signed up by the Scot in 2011 – didn’t feature much at Cardiff in recent years but he doesn’t hold a grudge against his old gaffer.
In fact he rates Mackay as one of the top young bosses in the game.
And he’s convinced Tan has done him a favour as he believes the former Watford gaffer will be snapped up by a big club before long.
Kiss said: “I wasn’t surprised to see Malky go. There have been so many changes to the club and the owner wants everything to move quickly.
“He demanded promotion right away and there was a lot of pressure put on the manager.
“The owner wanted things done his way so it was a difficult situation for him.
“Maybe it will be better for Malky to be at another club where he can do his work his own way. I’m sure he will do as good a job as he did at Cardiff.
“He will go far in management. He is a very good boss and works so hard as he is always striving to improve.
“Malky will land a top job elsewhere because clubs noticed the results he achieved at Cardiff.
“He won promotion and got the club to the Carling Cup Final before doing well in the Premier League.
“I am sure he has a bright future ahead of him.”
As for the future of Cardiff, it’s anyone’s guess with Tan around. The Malaysian billionaire has shown he will do things his way – no matter how bizarre – and he’s willing to throw around big money to do it.
Cardiff fans were left fuming when the Bluebirds were turned to red. Tan made the drastic switch in club colours as he felt the new tones were luckier and more marketable in the Far East.
There have been countless tales on interfering with the manager’s selections and there was even a recent story that he wanted new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign players with an eight in their date of birth because it signalled good fortune.
Kiss said: “It’s more difficult for the manager when he has someone telling him what to do but players just get on with it.
“We heard all the crazy stories about the owner as well and laughed about it. He changed the colour of the shirts from blue to red, which a lot of people were not happy with.
“But I am not sure about the story about him wanting players who have an eight in their date of birth.”
Kiss has to be careful not to burn his bridges back in Wales as he still has 18 months left on his contract.
He will attempt to win over Solskjaer in the summer and in his time with County.
The attacking midfielder could not have got off to a better start with a double on his debut in the 3-3 draw with Partick Thistle.
But Kiss said: “It still could have been better, if we got the three points it would have been fantastic.
“Hopefully we will carry on getting more points.”

Well he's just signed himself up for a load of hassle. This wont go down well with Tan at all and it shouldn't either. He's an employee of the club and he's gone on record speaking about the management/ownership at the club. He should have just been a model professional and said 'I don't know what's gone on there. I just play football'. Very naive of the lad to be honest.

You could well be right James, but it balances up the slagging off Malky got from the likes of Anthony Gerrard and the pie man!

He is just exercising his freedom to free speech. The little dictator is shit scared of free speech. He is from a country that does not have such a high reguard for it.We should applaud Kiss for his gut's.Or did hundreds of thousands of British and commonwealth soldiers sailors and airmen die for nothing.TAN OUT.

If I did such a thing in my work place I'd get told to sign on soon enough. The business side of football is nothing to do with him. He's paid to play football, not become Cardiff's answer to Edward Snowden. If he shut up and focused on his football instead of becoming a freedom of speech and rights activist then maybe he wouldn't find himself currently plying his trade at such a rubbish club in a rubbish league. Just a thought.

How can you compare a highly paid footballer ( who couldn't even get in the DVP side ) with all those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice,
Know the Tan out brigade were losing touch with reality but that comment should be deleted as its a f*cking disgrace.

He's not comparing kiss to the ww1 soldiers he's stating that they died for our freedom to free speech which is a valid point

It may harm his career being outspoken in the long run, as fans we like outspoken players don't we?? Its well known that the modern era doesn't have the personalities like it used to.
I don't think anything that was said is that contreversial tbh.
Wed Jan 15, 2014 4:05 pm
Massive fan of Kiss but let down by his comments. Not that they're amazingly controversial but still. He does state the truth though, added expectation on getting promoted after the re-brand. WHICH was correct, we should have got promoted which we did on a large budget.
Kiss' time at the club is done, as is Malky's. Fed up of the media shitstorm asking about Malky when it's all done, the only people that are talking about Malky's tenure here now constantly are Malky grovellers who want Ole to fail, the media and Malky himself

I thought Kiss wouldn't have a good work to say about Malky. Considering Malky had him playing with the U18s at times.
Wed Jan 15, 2014 5:53 pm
I get the impression Kiss has a hidden agenda
Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:16 pm
At least he came out and said it, respect for that. He wasn't getting first team football so why should he lick Tan's arse?
Wed Jan 15, 2014 7:00 pm
Well said Kiss! If every other player had the bottle to say it as it is, maybe Tan would think twice before ruining our football club. If every player speaks out, Tan isn't going to sack them all is he? Tan won't listen to the fans, so maybe he will listen to the players. Well done Kiss!

So before, when he invested his initial £6m to stop us going under due to HMRC you didnt want him here then? Bearing in mind it was liquidation calling.
Thu Jan 16, 2014 9:47 am
Well hopefully that doesn't turn off any future owners from writing checks to him, but one has to imagine it might not sit well with some.
Peronsally I wouldn't hire someone who was talking poorly of their current/former boss in an interview, that could just be me though.

Is that the same 6 million he invested in shares just before the Blackpool playoff final knowing if we went up, the cost of those shares would drastically rise?

there was no queue of men with briefcases holding 6 million outside that courtroom.........im sure your 6mil would have been welcomed just as much as his............and we didnt go up.did we?
Thu Jan 16, 2014 6:31 pm
back then..........everyone knew we could beat Blackpool,be in prem, and instantly get TV cash..............EVERYONE........not one single Welsh or British millionaire had any confidence or belief in us as a club.......nobody saw potential..........apart from Tan...........a lot has happened since, but dont knock him for saving our club.........or for seeing the club had potential............how he has gone about it obviously is miles from the dream ticket..and yes if you feel strong knock him for it....but back then it really was just him..no other options.........no Tan no club.
red or dead..came a year later...........not sure if he actually said that..or if it was concerned? fans

Irrelevant why he invested. The fact is there was nobody else and we were hours from liquidation. He saved us then.......red or dead was the rebrand saga a year later but people like to merge the two together for sone reson
