Why are people hating on whitts

Every time i check this forum out I am amazed at the amount of hate for whitts. Ok i will admit he might not always run a marathon for us during games but he has undoubted class. Every time any of my mates watch us that wouldn't follow Cardiff or be too knowledgeable about our squad they always rave about whitts class and composure. His left foot is a wand. His loyalty is unquestionable.

He should be loved on here yet seems a lot of people have nothing but hate for him.

I always thought Graham Kavanagh would remain my fave ever bluebird but whitts class anf loyalty tops even him.

Stop the hating people and appreciate we have a very talented player.

Because he walks around like he doesn't care. Misses easy chances and can't defend which leaves Taylor/John open to criticism. He's basically a set piece specialist, which he hasn't been very good at recently.

What's worse is the criticism of Cornelius, who hasn't even been given a proper chance, yet he is called crap all over this forum. What happened to supporting players?. He is 20 years old for god sake.

I know what whittingham has done for the club, like Gunnarsson, Taylor, Hudson etc, so I won't be booing any of them in our first ever year in the top flight. Some of his performances though have been dire, when we have exciting players like Kadeem Harris out on loan banging the goals in.

Maybe he is "out of position" but he is a professional football player.

Cos our fans are stuck in a time warp and because he doesnt go steaming into tackles (Which incidently you cannot do in the PL these days) or mis hits the odd cross (nobody gets every single one on the button) its the end of the world

I think some expect him to be Lionel Messi and just pick the ball up and beat 3 or 4 players and score every time he gets the ball.

the problem is whitts game is putting the ball where its needed,if he cant do that then he offers nothing else,bellamy seemed to motivate the team as wel as doing what whitts does,whittingham is a luxury we just cant afford ..

2nd half Whitts kept our posession ticking over moving the ball from one side to the other bringing our flair players Bellamy and Noone into the game.

Especially when Eikrem come on him and Whitts were always available for each other and kept our attacks ticking over very nicely.

He's our highest ranked player in fantasy football FFS which proves he's been our best player and contributed most as you get points for assists and goals. People saying he's not good enough make me laugh especially considering some of them also rate Cornelius.

Whitts has been one of our top 3 players this season IMO. The stats put him at number one but to me id say Marshall and Caulker have done well but obviously with all the goals conceded its harder to gauge these two. Without his contribution we'd easily be bottom. Just remember that.

Their answer to that is "Goals from set pieces ie corners and free kicks shouldnt count as assists" even though when he does get them bang on the money, and takes the keeper out they are nigh on impossible to defend against and we have scored several goals this season from them.

As I said form is temporary class is permanent. He hasnt been great this last couple of months but then neither have the whole team and I put that down to Malkys negative set up and also playing Whiits out of position.

He played him in the centre v Man U and he was our best player.

Also, he has been in the Championship team of the year for 3 of the last 4 years yet our own fans cant even cut him some slack when he goes through a rough patch.

Hes not a striker by the way or do you expect him to finish every single chance he gets? Not even Ronaldo or Messi have a 100% conversion rate ffs.

Perhaps if the crowd were not on his back for any little mistake he makes then the two chances he passed up against Sunderland he would have taken on instead of trying to set the striker up.

He is not a tackler, never has been. There are many top players who cant / wont tackle. We have other people in the team to do that.

As for his set pieces we scored off one up in Newcastle, and had another disallowed off one, but dont let the truth get in the way of a good witch hunt.

There aren't enough players like him these days. Could also add he's loyal as they come. How many times has he signed new contracts with us when we were in the championship, when he could have played in the premier league.
