I think I've used every chess site except Chessworld.net, lol.

In my opinion, the best site for any level is Chess.com. I've used that site for many years. You can play live or turn-based chess there, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. However, if you want get some of the extra features, mostly ones for training (tactics, openings, etc), you do have to pay. Only limited access is available to these types of features. You can also play tournaments, although access is, again, limited (3 per week in live chess).

If you just want to play turn-based chess (usually 1 to 14 days per move), you can use redhotpawn.com. I haven't used this one for years, but when I did I remember liking it. The problem is that chess.com offers what redhotpawn offers and more. Also, there may be a limit on how many games you can play at a time before having to pay.

Gameknot.com might be worth checking out because they have a nice looking chess board and great chess puzzles to solve. The reason I left that site was because that was pretty much all the site had to offer before you had to pay. Also, if I remember correctly, they limit the number of turn-based chess games you can play at the same time before you have to pay. I don't know too much about their live chess.

I've relatively recently tried ChessCube.com and it's a fun looking site, but it just wasn't for me. Here you can buy or win these things call cubits and use them to play or buy chess videos. The selection of chess videos (for improving your chess) is excellent, but they make it difficult to get these without paying. It might be worth checking out.

If you are a serious chess player, you should consider freechess.org/. It requires some downloading but when I used it it was one of best places I remember playing. It is also great place to get free chess training.

Dont 'Check' the sites out !!! you will just be a 'pawn' in their game, up all 'Knight' playing chess until you get 'Board' and then in the morning you will be tired and acting like a drama 'Queen'.......take my advice 'Mate'

It's a lot of pun.

Not like it's pawn-ography.
