Huddlestone or Medel

Tue Jan 14, 2014 4:29 pm

If you had the option to either purchase Medel for £12 million or Tom Huddlestone for £5 million, which one would have you picked?

Even though Medel has been a good player over the past 5 months, i wouldn't think twice about having Huddlestone in his place. Plays a similar sort of role as Medel but he just seems to have a bit attacking purpose about him. Been an admirer of him since his time at Derby and Spurs, has a hell of a strike and also likes to put himself in to tackles.

good post,

I think Medel would of been better at an established Premier League team. He has been asked to play a Obi-Mikel holding role, but becuase of the lack of creative midfielders, it is called upon him to switch play like Pirlo does. I would say Medel is uncomfortable with the lack of creativity in the team.

I wouldn't say Huddlestone is better...I would doubt Hudds would break into the Chilean national team where Medel is an established international.

We should of signed Hudds to play with Medel so Medel can just keep his position and Hudds playing instead of Whitts :ayatollah:

Would love to have signed him and you would have to admit Huddlestone for 5m or Medel for 13m well Hull have had far better value for money.

However, I would say Huddlestone plays more the Whitts role than he does Medel.

Hes got Livermore and Meyler doing what Medel does.

Huddlestone might just of been the bargain of the season  congrats to Hull and Steve Bruce they done really well in the transfer market

hudds for me I think he plays slightly more forward then medel in fairness but that's not to say hudds could not play the medal role plus the money difference :ayatollah:

I was suprised he only went for £5m. Still only 27 and he would have fitted well into our squad but Hull were lucky enough to get him.

reason why he was so cheap is because he is so injury prone hes a good player cant remember the last time he played a full season though so its only a matter of time before he gets injured again

Hope you're not implying that the same will happen to Campbell? :)

i know i thought of that after i posted so far both players have not had any injuries so hopefully neither will but if huddlestone is very good value at 5 mill if he doesnt get injured campbell could be a 5 million pound player if he stays fit and has another target man with him aswell i think

They play different roles. I would like to see Medel push 5-10 yards further forward though so he's inline with whoever else is with him. They seem to be in a vertical line instead of horizontal line in midfield

huddlestone should be in england team,,he would be ideal to put foot on the ball, dictate the pace of the game. he is always available to receive the ball, and is always in space, and always see a pass short or long. quality player who makes the game look easy. he would be perfect playing in midfield with medel behind him doing the donkey work.
