A forum for all things Cardiff City

This is taken from the club website regarding the qualifying criteria and sale dates for Swansea tickets, I have agreed with the clubs stance on the ticketing policy for the season thus far but we are told at the travel group meetings that Premier club members face the same restrictions as the rest of the season ticket holders but reading the post below Premier club members can purchase tickets if they have done four away games this season on the same day as season ticket holders who attended eight away games last season and then the criteria drops to season ticket holders who have been to seven away games this season nearly a week later.
That to me does not seem fair and where we should be rewarding loyalty it seems that is not 100% the case regarding this game.
It should be the same restrictions for all fans.
Tickets for the second South Wales derby of the season at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, 8th February go on sale from 9am on Thursday, 16th January.
Tickets will initially be on sale to current season ticket holders who have attended eight or more away league fixtures throughout last season 2012/13.
(2nd stage of sale) - From 9am, Wednesday, 22nd January 2014 tickets will be available to purchase ONLINE ONLY at www.eticketing.co.uk/CardiffCity to current season ticket holders only who have attended seven or more away league fixtures this season 2013/14.
Premier Club members – The Swansea fixture is on sale from 9am, on Thursday, 15th January to members who have attended four or more away league fixtures this season 2013/14.

sorry........2nd question.........how many of these premier seating fans have the required 4 aways?
or is that eye candy for real fans and they all qualify...
Mon Jan 13, 2014 7:31 pm
I have been told that people who phone up for away tickets who have premier club seats....get them no matter how many away games they have been too.But you will never get the club to admit to it.
Mon Jan 13, 2014 7:34 pm
This is what I totally disagree with by our club, Premier Seat holders should never be allowed priority over anyone for away games, they should still have to attend as many games as a normal season ticket holder.

We are now 4 1/2 years into our contracts which state Premier Club members have priority to purchase away tickets, this was part of the clubs main USP's when getting us to sign up. Why are you only now questioning this????
Mon Jan 13, 2014 7:35 pm
i know of people,,you do too, that made the effort to do Hull and Norwich, with this fixture in mind.........it really is shit.

I know for a fact that this happens and some pass them on to other family members or friends that don't qualify. And I bet they include the Manchester games for them too.

Guys
May I firstly dispel a few myths and misconceptions about Premier Members. I am a premier member, and in fact I have 2 tickets. They cost me something like £3,300 pa. But I, like many in the Premier Seating am not a newbie, or a glory chaser, or a member of the prawn sandwich brigade, as many like to think. I stood in the Grange End from age 14 in 1967. I went away with the Barry and Llanrumney boys with Frankie and Peggy. I have supported CCFC ever since. Last year I did about 10 away games and so far this year I have done 5 and will do another 2 in the next 2 weeks. There are not many grounds to which I have not been - Premiership being the exception until this year. I know many Premier Members who have similar credentials. I know some who have not missed an away game for years. Some are guys who love the club and having done okay in life want to put some money into the club and enjoy a bit of comfort at the same time. Some, not all, are as vociferous as most in the stands. So please don't be so quick to generalize.
Secondly, the right to some sort of priority ticketing is written into some Premier Members contracts. In my case it last for life i.e. the life of the stadium. It is a legal entitlement. The club have little option. As they say, you get what you pay for and as you can see, it is expensive. But the allocation is limited. Pro-rata it is probably less than the general membership allocation. And, as far as I can see the Premier Members who do travel away are real fans. I know because I see them.
I don't think that there is a need to get upset about this.

There has to be priority with any system, there is unfairness in any system they employ. When I was an away member only, I used to be gutted that season ticket holders got priority over me for the big away games, yet was always told that it's right that season ticket holders get first priority as they put more money up front and into the club. I would argue that I had paid specifically for away membership but in reality it gave me no benefits. Now season ticket holders are in a similar position, the Premier seat holders put an awful lot more money into the club, so they will now reap the same benefits over us normal season ticket holders. Some would argue that those that have travelled to more games should get priority, but some may also see that as unfair, especially if you were a Premier member who shells out far more money into the clubs coffers.

I have defended premier club members in previous posts as I recognise that there are premier club members who are also loyal fans who travel away on a regular basis and in some cases as much much as the next fan but the issue here is that the qualifying criteria is less for premier club members as opposed to season ticket holders but from your post it seems that the qualifying criteria matters little anyway as you are entitled to priority ticketing even if numbers are limited.

I have 5 my seat up on level four, and my dad has four seats also, i enquired about swansea tickets as last year i done 14 aways but this year have only done 3 due to work comiitments and a baby on the way, and have been told that i will not get a ticket cause i havnt done four this season. Bollocks it is.
Mon Jan 13, 2014 8:21 pm
Dont know about the criteria when the first tickets were sold, but I know someone who purchased a premier club seat this season and athough he has done no games last season away or this season....when he phoned up for a ticket for an away game he was told he could have one..........when he said he wanted 2...........they said that was ok as well.
Im not making an issue out of it because I dont get to many away games, especially this season because of work.
I just think those who go every week should have priorety.

Thank you for clearing a few things up.

surely signing up to pay £3000 p.a to watch your dross is the ultimate display of loyalty??
Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:29 pm
I noticed at Arsenal there seemed to be a lot of people who didnt look like your average away fan. It seems that some Premier Club members are obviously using their priority to pick the big games like Arsenal and Chelsea as I haven't seen them at games like Norwich and Hull. I even had a guy behind me who didn't know who Whittingham was
Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:40 pm
Guys, may I also clarify something else.
You also have to pay a membership fee to join as a Premier Member. In my case for a life membership it was, I think, £1500 per member. I think that the later 5 year memberships cost £500. Level 4 is not Premier Club any more. Level 4 is for are Premier Season Ticket holders so the priority may not apply - I am not certain. They don't have long term contracts.

I understand why because Premier Club holders pay more for their premier season ticket that the average ticket and the lesser away game restriction is due to them paying more to the club - similar to VIP tickets for a club/bar
I understand though that the majority of our loyal away following dont want to sit in the premier seating/cannot afford the inflated ticket prices
This is the result of football being run like a proper business
Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:50 pm
We all knew this would probably happen.. And if i was a premier seating ticket holder i'd be loving it. Thats life we can't all have our own way
Mon Jan 13, 2014 10:56 pm
Could be worse you could buy 4 premier seats pay a fortune and then get banned

If we use Carl,s and Annis,s logic all season ticket holders should pay joining fees so we are all equal. I paid 10k in joining fees in addition to my subscription which I paid 5 years upfront for my tickets.
The Premier club members were given privileges to join and provided equally valuable revenue which helped fund the stadium build via a shortfall funding scheme. Ticket allocations have not been an issue up until now and the same rules have existed since the stadium opened. The travel Club members have been well looked after so why does one section try to make something out of a non issue.
